Just wondering what Noises everyones LOs make/made at 7 months? Katie wad always a talker and would never shut up! Ellas nit very vocal tho and won't really copy noises if you talk to her! I think i've said on here before about her having a slight hearing problem, which should be clearing up around now, was just wondering if it was related or if a lot of babies don't really "say" much?! Also she doesn't laugh properly yet, she does a weird half laughy thing that makes her sound like an old man that's been smoking 40 a day his whole life

hi,

my second is 17 months and can say maybe 10 words clearly. At 7 months she never said very much or mimiced at all. just gurgles. Her big sister had a huge vocabulary and was sentancing at 17 months. I think it is just because Amy says things for her she isnt really interested.

however on the other hand, she understands every single thing we say to her or ask her to do, think she understands more than her sister at that age.

NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT THEY ARE ALL JUST DIFFERENT IN THEIR OWN WEE WAYS

X:lol:

they are all so different, but heres the text book answer...

between 7 and 10 months they develop repetitive babling with a consonant and vowel, like dadadada, tititit etc... and alongside that they do more complicated strings of babble which kind of sounds like theyre talking another language, even though theyre just practising stringing sounds together in more complicated sequences. They dont tend to put much intonation into it though until around 12 months, and quickly after you start hearing real intonation patterns in their babbles you should get the first real word :yay:

(Im a speech & language therapist, incase you were wondering!)

does she have fluid in the middle ear? Sometimes that does slow them down a bit, as long as she's looking at your face when you talk to her I wouldnt worry too much. If you want to try something Id probably suggest doing songs with actions, like twinkle twinkle etc... and encourage her to join in. As long as shes listening, its going in, thats the most important thing.

Yea she does tiny! I think it's more than that tho, were back for another checkup in august time tho! I do try and make sure she's looking ay me, it can be hard tho cos she quite often doesn't hear me and I have to shout her! Feel well mean doing that tho cos katie shouts uhoh thinking she's in trouble  am probably just being paranoid tho lol! She doesn't really do any babbling, just grunts and stuff haha!

fluid in the ear does usually go away on its own so they dont like using grommits anymore, but it definately has an effect on speech and language development. I think everything sounds really muffled to them so they cant really hear the difference between sounds. Its really common though, and shes got loads of time to catch up. At the review just mention about the babbling tho cos it might encourage them to do something sooner rather than later. They can put grommits in, although that involved general anaesthetic :( sometimes give temporary hearing aids until it goes away. Sometimes low dose antibiotics are given too. I guess it depends how bad it is.

Most audiologists like to 'wait and see' but if my boy has it Im gonna be stamping my feet for some kind of action plan!

See she's fine with high pitched noises, but the lower they get, the less responsive she gets! Spose it really is just a big waiting game! Might be picking your brains in a couple of months tho!

they always give us something to worry about from the moment we get the BFP!!! Im sure she'll be fine, but yeah give me a shout if you need
