My lo is about to turn 1 and I'm wondering what to do with the transition from formula to milk, should I introduce the milk gradually? Is it best to continue with formula for a while or stop it completely? And what about vitamin drops, do they get added to the milk?

We just did it a few weeks ago and I was amazed that lo didn't even notice the difference just changing straight to cows milk and no probs so far. Try it and see how you go. I don't give my lo vitamin drops so I'm not sure about that one x

I used to use cows milk in foods (mash and cereals etc) and then at 11months after the tub ran out (around 2 weeks before his birthday) I switched to cows milk.

I did it gradually by mixing a small amount of cows milk in with his formula and gradually increasing it every few days until he was drinking just cows milk. It worked for us and he still loves his milk now :)

I used cows milk in food from 6 months then just switched straight over at about 11 months. Took it no bother. X

It's recommended you give your LO vitamins when stopping formula cos obviously cows milk doesn't have all the added vitamins etc formula does. It was never mentioned to me by the HV or GP, it wasn't until my mum said about it I realised!

We did it gradually with his bottles but had been giving him cows milk in food from about six months.

I had an emergency at around 11 months, didn't have any formula handy (got stuck out longer than expected), so gave DS a bottle of cows milk and crossed my fingers.

If he noticed the difference he didn't care.

So I just used up the last of the formula tub I had and once that ran out, straight onto cows, no problem.

You could just give a bottle at some point today with just an ounce of cows milk in, and see if she drinks it. If she does, you know there's no problem with switching when you're ready. If not, you'll know you need to gradually mix a little less formula with a little more milk each bottle until the formula's gone. Xx
