So because of the last history with Annabel, my high anxiety which is spiralling out of control and my GSB risks (which is active infection), not having any control over my birth and when it is going to happen, I asked my midwife on Monday what she thought about early induction in the respect of trying to bring it on naturally and so we have booked in a sweep at 38 weeks which is the 15th June.

Has anyone had a early sweep at 38 weeks and how successful was it following to a natural labour.

I have given birth within 12 months of each labour so I know that can favour my body remembering how to "do it" but I don't want any complications. My last induced labour with Annabel at 34 weeks or so, was a successful labour 6 hours established and a 5 minute pushing stage.

Do you think given my last labour that was only established for 6 hours with a successful induction of only half the drugs needed (pills in my cervix and 1 and 1/2 orally), I will react well to my next induction? She is cephalic Anterior and has decent into the pelvis for the last 2 weeks.

any opinions welcomed as I have a meeting on the 1st June with my consultant xxx

Also, My first sweep with Henry was successful in 24 hours of the sweep but because he was posterior ceph pres, I didn't dilate as his head was in my back rather than my pevis but given the fact he was the wrong way round, it wasn't the fact my body didn't want to dilate, he wouldn't let me! xx

Sorry no advice really, I was induced with my second but she was only 16 weeks so I didn't need to be fully dilated for her to be born.

I think inductions are generally more successful/quicker when you've given birth previously.

I'm booked for a stretch and sweep at 39 weeks!

No personal experience but a friend had a sweep 2 weeks before due date, she had another 48 hrs later at 10.30am and baby was born by 9pm that night, 12 days early.
The reason for them agreeing to an early sweep was due to anxiety issues over losing a previous baby at 22 weeks and it was affecting her blood pressure. Baby weighed about 5lb 12ozs i think.
Good luck x
