Hi - do you only get this is you don't work or are receiving benefits? I'm not happy about this if that's the case because I've paid taxes all my life and would like a little help to buy things I need for the baby

any working mum can claim a grant through tax credits.. you have to be 28 weeks to claim the same as a maternity grant.. look in to it...

yes you do have to be on benefits, but i think that you claim it shortly after birth if your working, not too sure thought, get to CAB or JobCentrePlus seem to know more these days

thanks girls - I'm useless when it comes to stuff like this. I'm going to go to CAB to find out everything because if I'll be better off once baby is here to work less hours then I'll do it. I've also paid taxes all my life so it's time to get something back. Thanks for your help x
