Hi All, my gf and I are pregant with our first and are at the 7 week mark.

For about a week my gf has been getting insane pain around her lower abdomen, she says it's always there at about a 3 pain level but several times a day shoots up and she is in absolute agony.

It causes her to start awake at night and have to pace the house. In a lot of cases she is in tears clutching her belly from the pain.

Our first appointment with the MW isn't until next week so I took her to a&e (as I read online some pain is normal but excruciating isn't).

The a&e staff were great - checked and the baby is where it should be and is a live pregnancy. The DR says its early in pregnancy pain, and that it might pass, but no guarantee.

As the bloke you can imagine i'm feeling pretty useless - we've just got back from work and she was crying next to me in the car in pain :(

I'm worried really that even though the doctor etc says everything is fine, that she's not enjoying being pregnant, but also that I can't imagine someone being able to endure this kind of pain long term.

aw bless her :(
I had a lot of pain early on, sometimes I still get the shooting pain, but you're right that doesn't sound normal...has she ever been pregnant before? I'd perhaps take her back to the GP?
Has she had infection swabs done etc?
Hope she feels well again soon

Went to GP, then A and E, then for a scan with the early pregnancy unit - all say they can't see anything that should be causing it, tested urine etc all clear - said it's ok for her to take some paracetomol, but you can imagine with the level of pain it doesn't have a huge effect

Oh and it's her first pregnancy

I had really bad pain with my daughter, I'd say more than what started with mcs.
It's normal to get pain, as long as she's not bleeding with it. A&E are pretty useless but they can't do anything.

I had bad pains around then too was bent over crying and paracetamol didn’t touch it I ended up going for bloods and early scans but she was there buried right at back, it’s normal and just baby settling in to it’s new Home and it’s common when your due period to get the pains too hope she’s ok xx

Did they ever ease? Like after a certain number of weeks

Not for a few weeks but they assured me it was normal and that they would only be worried if I bled, if your worried though I’d call Epau and they might give you a scan depending if your area does it xx
