Im looking for some advice on this.

Bit about us hubby is unemployed on job seekers im self employed but finishing in 3 wks all i get is £27 a week as i dont qualify for statatory mat pay.

Now we already have a son (adopted) i never got anything for him when wr adopted him.

Now the maternity grant says you can only claim for your first child so does this mean we cant claim? Im really confused so if anyone can advise me that would be great.

Thank you x

I think it means you can't. If the child wasn't adopted and was your child by birth then you defiantly wouldn't get it as this would be your second child. Even if you didn't or couldn't get this grant for your first baby. They don't care. I would think they wouldnt give it to you, but I would ring them and explain and ask if they think you should bother applying x
