Hi,

I Found out today after having a early scan that I have a bleed/clot around the pregnancy sac.. The consultant has made me another scan appointment for two weeks time to check if it's gone down.. He's said to take things easy and to watch and monitor any blood loss...

All rather scary to me seeing as the baby had a good regular heartbeat.. Anyone had this and all had been ok in the end?

I was meant to be 7wks+5days ... But the scan has put me at 6wks+2days which is rather disappointing but I'm assured the next scan will change the date again.. I've had no fresh bleeding so far.

Thanks x

I did with this pregnancy, never had it with my others. I had a private early scan at 7+3 and they dated me 7 weeks exactly. She told me it was a small bleed and not to worry too much, to expect a little brown blood but I never had any discharge whatsoever. At my 12 week scan there was no sign of anything at all - was worried until then but all is good and im 24 weeks tomorrow!!!

im sure others have positive stories to tell too... itll be okay hun, im sure.

I was diagnosed with one at around 7 weeks with this pregnancy and monitored closely. I bled mildly and mostly brown with a bit of pink and only ever when wiping, up to maybe 10.5 weeks. Was worried sick and read so much into it but epu played it down and said they're so common. I rested lots, no sex, exercise, kept walking to a minimum etc. And it either all came out or body dispersed it. I'm now 25 weeks and saw a very cute and happy baby on scan earlier today. Wishing you well and try and stay calm and positive until your next appointment...x

Thank you for all the replies.. The consultant didn't say anything about no sex.. No exercise.. Not even no work.. But deep down I want to completely rest and not take any chances.. X

I wasn't advised to take it easy or anything, she didnt say no sex etc. Was quite reassuring and said its very common and will most likely be reabsorbed by next scan. She told me not to be too alarmed if I had a small bleed, but it should look like 'old' blood.

I was a little concerned though, as although there was a heartbeat it was a little slow. She said it should get quicker fairly soon but I worried sick, it was only around 105bpm. Sure enough it did, was reassured by my doppler. Could find baby at 10 weeks and heartbeat was lovely and strong xx

Thank you so much for replying.. This makes me feel better as the doctor didn't seem at all concerned .. Like yours said it's common and to watch out for old blood over the next couple of weeks.. He said it's only small.. 2cms but another scan is needed to check it's going down.. And he'd rather my body absorbs then him give me tablets to bleed it out.

Also said the heartbeat was nice and regular :)

Got to keep positive now :)... Ava is on our short list, lovely name! Congrats on your pregnancy xxx

No worries hun, all sounds good with your pregnancy please don't worry too much.

Thanks, we both love the name Ava and think it should go well with our other little girls names :) x

Just an update.. My body absorbed the bleed/clot itself and was totally gone by the 12 week scan :D

For anyone facing this problem.. Keep positive!x

Fab news, really pleased. Keeping positive often things work out for the best.

P.S - glad to see someone local, I am in M'head :)

Brilliant, exactly what happened with me :)

Enjoy the rest of your pregnancy xxx

Hello,
I also had hemorrhaging in my placenta a few weeks ago. I am now 17 weeks and doing just fine. I had to have almost a month of bed rest but am now back on my feet & everything is normal. Stay positive :) The bleeding doesn't affect your baby

Great news.. Thanks for sharing! X

Hi Sozzy, just after a bit of advice. I had an early scan last week at 7 weeks. Baby measuring fine, but I was told there was a blood clot behind the placenta and to expect some more bleeding at some point. Would this be a subchorionic hematoma? I was originally arranged to have a follow up scan on Friday at 8+2 weeks, but they phoned up and cancelled saying it wasn't needed. Should I push for a scan, I'm petrified of something going wrong now?

I'm glad all is well with your pregnancy :) xx

Hi kanga .. I think my clot/bleed was just outside the sac, the consultant didn't seem to alarmed but I put myself on much rest as possible just incase.. I was rescanned the once which still showed a bleed but a much smaller one compared to the growing pregnancy so got discharged and was told my 12 week scan would clear.. From what I know they go by that clot measurement, if it's bigger than the pregnancy it's a threat if smaller it's not.. I'd say yours sounds smaller if they have cancelled the scan but if your in any doubt or worry.. Ring them and have them explain Hun.

All the best .. Let me know x

I'm so glad to see this post as I was just coming to post something very similar. I've been a nervous wreck as after a private early scan on Monday when I thought I was 8 weeks I was dated 6 weeks and had a 2cm hematoma, I've had brown spotting yesterday and have to go tomorrow for another scan. I've convinced myself there's no hope and I'm making myself upset but reading this really helps as your situation was so similar. Thank you.

Yes that's just like mine! ... Taking it easy is important, no heavy lifting.. Rest as much as you can ... I was also very worried but everything was fine.. Fingers crossed yours will be too :) xx

A good friend of mine had this in a big way and she bled almost everyday from wk7 - wk 20, some of the bleeds were very very heavy (like running down her legs tmi), she was scanned every time there was a heavy bleed (approx every 1-2wks) and every time she expected there to be no baby - her little girl is now 1 year old and absolutely gorgeous! It was a really tough pregnancy but they made it in the end and once she hit 20wks the bleeding just stopped, like someone had turned off the switch! Good luck xxx
