Hi,

I've done a quick search, but haven't found a topic on this, so here I go.
I've been off the pill for a year and a half now, but we've only been really trying to conceive over the past four months (meaning specifically aiming for fertile week rather than avoiding it). So, my PMS has been really strong over these four months.

My whole life, with or without birth control, my PMS has been really soft. It impacted my mood, but I never noticed any specific physical signs. I've been watching my body over the last year, learning to know it, identify fertility peak, etc., and PMS was still hardly noticeable except for mood swings. But now, my breasts become tender and swollen almost as soon as I enter the luteal phase, and I have belly aches that I never used to have outside my period. My immune system also seems to get really weak (twice over the course of four cycles, I got both a gastro-enteritis AND an infection in an ear piercing that's been healed for months one week after my ovulation day! A midwife in my family says it's just a coincidence, but I can't help finding this really weird.)

Has it happened to any of you? Do we have any explanation for this? It might be early pregnancies that are just not viable, but it really looks to me like normal PMS signs, only they've been triggered by the attempts at conception...

Thanks :-)

If you search for weakened immune system after ovulation you will find lots of information on how progesterone influences your cycles and why your immune system gets a bit knocked down.
Good luck with your ttc journey! I hope it will happen quickly!x

Thanks for this info! But then how come I never had any health problem after ovulation prior to conception attempts?

The fact that you're paying more attention to it makes you notice everything more than before.

When women start ttc they will magnify and study every little symptom because you wouldn't want to miss ovulation, then from ovulation onwards, every little cramp, zit or pinch might be a pregnancy symptom. It's just something we put ourselves through when we want something so badly! I'm guilty of it too! But the cycles I barely had anything, were the ones I caught. So relax and try to enjoy it! Good luck!x

Quick update, in case someone has a similar problem: I'm actually pregnant \o/ I found out this morning. So it was probably early pregnancy signs and not PMS after all.
