How early did you all start using creams/oils to prevent stretch marks? I am quite tiny anyway but prone to them as I have some on the tops of my legs from gaining weight/losing weight in the past. Also any recommendations on what to use? My mum just used ordinary baby oil and she was lucky not to get any stretchmarks, so it makes me wonder if shelling out on expensive creams is worth it?

its supposed to be hereditary so maybe if your mum didnt get them then you wont? x

i started using things to prevent stretch marks from the day i found out! with my last i used baby oil after a shower, and in the bath!
and then at nite would sleep with bio oil on, its pricey at £9 a bottle but there is a cheaper version which feels the same in asda and wilkos for under £2!! also would put coco butter on about twice a week! but i would make sure my body was oiled everyday!! luckily with my last i only got a couple on my bum! if i got them on my belly or boobs i would of been really upset fingers crossed i wont this time either! also planning on not gaining as much much wieght which it is know to help if you dont get bigger with the 2nd then u did with the 1st!! last time i put on 2st 9lb this time i want to stick to 2st....so staying away from the sweets an choc!

With my daughter I used a very expensive oil, I think it was £28 for a 100ml bottle but I didn't get any stretch marks! This time I've used a £6 tub of marks and spencers body butter and again have no stretch marks! I don't think it matters what you use, if your gonna get them, your gonna get them! I started using the butter from 12 weeks but only use it about 3 times a week cos I'm really lazy!!

I am popping bio oil on at night and coco butter in the morning, less messy when dressing to rush out the door in the morning. I started after about 8 / 10 weeks into the pregnancy.

Unfortunately i can't say whethere it works or not, as i have still got 12 weeks to go, but so far so good. Like you i am small and where i have gained weight in the passed and lost it, i have a few old stretch marks which have shown up, but so far no new ones yet, but not speaking to soon.

I use boots own pregnancy wonderbalm which is quite an oily cream, so far so good .... X

misty thatnks for the tip I will have a look for the cheap version of bio oil! Have some regular baby oil in the bathroom so going to start using that in the meantime I think. Might not start to show for a while but will be good to get in a habit of applying it!

I just wanted to open a thread with this subject today! :)

I'm using olive oil for the moment and I'm searching the market for a cream that doesn't have to many chemicals
I found so far that the African Shea Butter would be the best but I will consider the answers from here also

to be honest i dont think theres anything that can stop u getting them. u put bio oil and coco butter on everyday i dint get ny whie i was pregnant but weirdly got them after!
