Hi Girls!

I've been applying oil to my stomach for the past few weeks hoping to prepare it for when it starts to stretch ( I have stretch marks from puberty so I'm sure I'll get them!). Does anyone know when it's the best time to start?

And what are you using? Recommendations? My sister always used Clarins oil and remains stretch-mark free so I've followed her lead!

i dont have strech marks but have started using Bio-oil (frolm the adverts) - has great reviews and it done great work on a scar i have. :)
i dont know about what time to start - ive been doing it last few weeks. - think the earlier the better.

Hi, what i use is Boots Baby Lotion all over my body every day :D

Although when i start to get bigger i will obviously put on on a morning and a night, i also put Palmers Cocoa Butter thingy on my stomach, thighs and hips) every so often (twice a week) :D

I think the main thing that perhaps influences if/ how many stretch marks you get is your weight during the pregnancy, just maintain a healthy weight. Which i hope i will

I used Palmers cocoa butter last time and this time but due to the fact that I was stretched to a tremendous size it didn't work :(

Was covered in them last time and got them already now :(

think a lot of it has to do with your skins elasticity

Yeah I think it has ALOT to do with you skins elasticity(sp?)

I am 19 so hopefully fingers crossed i won't get any/ many, but i suppose some one who has looked after their skin a lot moisterising shouldn't get many regardless of their age? What do you think? :)

Its only realistic that you might limit the damage by using creams and potions.

Sadly those of us that are prone to stretch marks will get them regardless.

I have them already. :(

i have read that there is a gentic linka swell so ask your mom if she got them

It's all to do with your skin. If you don't have elastic enough skin then you will get them however much you rub in any sort of cream. I was told this by someone, but can't remember who and why and why I think that he was someone who would really know??

Anyway, I used boots stretchmark cream every night from about 16 weeks with dd, and didn't have any till about 34 weeks, and just when I started telling people that I didn't have any they started to appear.

On pregnancy no.3, I ended up with stretch marks on the stretchmarks. Not sure if they will grow any more this time, hope not!!

Good luck to all of you first timers - hope you manage to keep them away!

If you are prone to stretch marks you will get them regardless of what cream you use, your age etc. I was 19 when I had Aaron and I was covered in them. My stomach was just full of bright red stretch marks. I tried the palmers stuff and it did nothing. It's good to sooth itching from stretching though.
