was just woundering if anyone has fort about gettin tested as they do not routinly test for it i had strep b wen pregnent with my daughter 3 years ago and as far as i no they still dont do that test i only found out i had it due to a large amount of discharge sorry tmi! strep b is very dangrous for u and baby and every mother has it but does not cause harm until pregnent and in many cases it turns out fine but in sum it doesnt i had to have antibiotics 4 hours befor i gave birth and had 2 lots. If it passes on to baby wen u r giving birth can cause cot death meningitis and other serious help problems for baby!! i will receive antibiotics again with this baby coz i have had it before it will come back but am fine about that as i no this baby will be safe!!
has anyone else had it or found out they have had it or fort about gettin tested i would seriouly recomend it u can privertly for £30 which is a small price to pay i think for a healthy baby xx

In the hospital I was in I wasn't tested for it, but because my waters had been broken for over 24 hours they gave me an antibiotic during labour, although it was to be safe rather than sorry, I think it's routine in mine xx

I got a kit and sent it off myself as my hospital didnt test for Strep B.

When I was pregnant with Isabella I did a private Group B Strep test at 37 weeks and it came back positive.

As soon as I went into labour I went to the hospital straight away as they were aware of this and I had antibiotics administered.

You are supposed to have a dose of AB's administered at least 4 hours before you give birth and then another top up 4 hours later if you are still in labour, which I did.

Out of my group of 8 NCT friends 3 babies had to have antibiotics administered as they showed signs of infection at birth, so it is SO common in women.
