Hi all,

Just after a bit of advice/reassurance really.

Am 34+2 today. Baby has been either breech or transverse since my 25 week appointments. I was starting to get a bit panicky about whether or not they'd turn but low and behold they have - hurrah!

I had to have a growth scan at 29 weeks, as at my 28 week appt I'd only been measuring 25w, the midwife wasn't concerned and said she thought it was because of the transverse position. When I got to the scan the baby had spun back breech and everything was fine on the growth scan - no concerns and the sonographer advised that baby may just be on the "small side" of what they deem as normal. At my 31w appt, I'd had 3 weeks growth and was measuring 28w - all going well growth wise, albeit baby still breech.

Today I went for my 34w appt and saw a different MW; consequently she's the midwife I had when I was carrying my second baby and I just did not warm to her. She told me at 37w my baby would be early as he was so low/engaged etc he was actually 12 days OVERDUE. So she measured me today and is saying I have static growth.

I don't believe I do have static growth as I'm measuring 29w. I know this is small in comparison to where I should be but there has been some growth. Also, I'm wondering if because baby is now head down, if this is going to affect the measurement too. I've also read that different midwives can measure differently so I'm wondering if she's just measured differently to my normal MW.

She started panicking me by saying about the placenta potentially not working and seeing the consultant and induction and I'm majorly freaking out. Cried most of the afternoon because I feel so stressed out, plus all the hormones and tiredness at beginning 34+ weeks pregnant.

Has anyone got any advice or has had a similar experience?

Thanks xx

The fundal measurement is not very accurate so therefore she should not have started talking about issues with the placenta etc she should just book u in for another growth scan and this will tell them whether baby has grown properly or not and they can also check fluid levels and blood flow to the baby which indicate if there are any issues not a fundal measurement. I think she has not handled it very well and has caused u extra panic instead of booking the scan and waiting until then!

Has she mentioned booking u another scan?

Everything could be absolutely fine Hun and it could be she has measured u differently etc it's just not accurate! I measured above the 50 centiile line every time yet Harrison was in the 8centile when born!

Thank you - sorry yes, should have said am waiting to hear from hospital re another scan. I just don't like her. Wish I'd seen my normal MW today, just know she would have handled it better x

That's really good they are scanning you but I agree she handled it all wrong! X
