I've been expressing for 20 mins and I've only got about 50ml total

I dunno what's going on but my supply has been screwed for a few days

Can you just dry up all of a sudden? I haven't done anything different

I'm trying all the usual tricks to get supply going but it just doesn't seem to be working

I can remember something similar happening to me and I ended up ringing the breast feeding nurse in tears!

I ended up doing a breast feeding holiday and pumping every 2 hours to get my supply up again but I know you've had over supply so maybe your body is just adjusting?

Try not to get stressed about it though Hun as that can have a major affect on supply. Aaron is thriving because of your dedication so if need be get some supplies out of the freezer and give yourself a little break. I promise once your chilled the milk will just flow xxx

I'm at my wits end with it and I know that's not doing me any good

I've barely expressed enough for 3 feeds all day

I've gone back to religiously expressing every 3 hours ( and will continue through the night) in the hope it will kick start things again

Stupid boobs!

Tweety are you absolutely sure you are getting enough calories ???

Tweety are you absolutely sure you are getting enough calories ???

100% sure Hope! I'm so stuffed I can't have my yoghurt

today I have had

2 x Weetabix and a bowl of melon
Large bowl of pasta with spinach, mushroom and cheese & yoghurt
Half a punnet of grapes
Salmon, New potatoes (about 300g) and veg

I am not remotely hungry!

The joy of SW is that you don't restrict calories, I have no idea how many calories that equates to, but I'm pretty sure its plenty

I dont know exactly how SW works although i.have an idea but if you are losing weight,.can it trick your body into thinking you are not getting enough.and maybe it might affect supply?
I dont know what else could be the cause

Tapatalking so cant see signatures

Its more about healthy food choices and is bfing friendly.

I've been on it for 7 weeks and been fine till now - but I did lose alot this week :eh:

bums and tits!

I'm on antibiotics could that interfere with supply?

I'm due to express again just now and my boobs feel empty

Hope you're feeling a bit better tweety. I would ask your GP/pharmacist whether the antibiotics could affect your supply as there is always a chance. Are you making sure you're well-rested and keeping hydrated xx

How old is Aaron hun? 4ish months? X

Yeah will be 4 months in a few days

4 months was my real dip in supply.... I posted a thread about it. I think Karen had a dip too. It coincides with the developmental leap and with a big growth spurt.

You are doing the right thing by pumping more frequently.

Your supply could well be affected by antibiotics are they BFing friendly? X

Yeah gp said they would be fine

One day left of them can't wait for tj to be finished now

Hmm I am not sure you are actually having enough calories.i eat that much I don't bf and don't do exercise lol. The weight is dropping off so obviously you have a minus of calories.
Don't forget not only you bf but you take care of Aaron, going out and about, exercise. I think that requires a good amount of a hell lot of calories that you obviously don't get if you are loosing weight.
I would personally aim for not more 1 lb per week loss until your supply stabilize back up. Also are you adding some oil like olive oil in your diet? That's pretty essential also for producing milk :)
I don't think the antibiotics would do that but maybe because you were poorly. That can for sure be a reason .
I hope everything will go back to normal soon.

My 4.5lb weightloss was a fluke - I've been averaging 1lb a week up till now (I put on weight last week), and I certainly didn't eat less over xmas. Maybe with being unwell etc my body has just taken a battering

I have been aiming for 1lb a week as I'm really conscious of undereating. To be fair - I like food too much

I've never ever used oil for cooking  don't really want to start now

Oh my lol! Let the cardiologist of me to preach you a little!
Start including some olive oil even a tablespoon on your salad or food. It will do the world of good for your health :)
Failing that get eating some nuts!!
that and red wine :D apparently chocolate too (still have to let me get convinced about that study lol but we will see)!
Well done for realistic goals though

Been expressing like a maniac for 2 solid days ... I'm exhausted, I've barely seen my son and I'm getting hardly any milk :wall2:

I dunno how long I can keep this up

Big hugs. You're putting so much pressure on yourself - try and have some "me" time. Your doing so well and everyone is in awe of you on pf for keeping going.

I hope you get your supply back soon - I did find some exclusively expressing forums online that might be able to help you, maybe worth a look x

When I was expressing sometimes one boob would just randomly not give much milk up for a few days then be back to normal, but I'm not sure that is very helpful if it's both of yours at the same time. How about adding some oaty rich foods in your diet - that's supposed to help supply; I ate loads of flapjack for a while, probably won't help your diet but you could eat porridge or something healthier than flapjack.

I'm starting to believe that my body is deciding for me

I've done a lot of research that says exclusively expressing past 4 months is sometimes not achieveable - I'm in shock and really thought I could do this for a year.

However, 4 hours a day hooked up to a machine when my son is alert and needs me is not practical. In the beginning when he was sleeping all day I could manage it. Now its heart wrenching.

I'm going to give it another couple of days and may stop expressing and use up my freezer stock, then switch to formula.

Its not a road I wanted to go down, but being stressed and worried about ever expressing session wont do me any good
