I had spotting yesterday - brown and pink and watery. Overnight it has turned to more dark red. It's still mostly only when I wipe and there's barely any on the towel, but it's really freaking me out. I'm just over 5 weeks. I really want it to stop.

Hi Sunflower,

That must be very worrying for you! A lot of people have had spotting at this time though, do you have any pain ?

As jade says a lot of women bleed and go on to have healthy pregnancies, keep an eye on it and if it gets heavier call your EPAU and they will scan you, you won’t be able to see much at just over 5 weeks but you will see the start of it and some women even see heartbeat that early hope everything is ok sweet xx

I have a little pain - more like dull, bruised pain. We haven't even reported the pregnancy yet. I don't know what is classified as 'spotting'. At least it's monday tomrrow so I can get some medical advice.

Thanks. xx

Where I live you can walk in to the early pregnany clinic after 8am until 10am . It might be worth finding out if you can in your area. I had a heavy bleed at the beginning of my pregnancy when I had a early scan they could see a blood clot which could have caused my bleed. Fingers crossed for you, keep us updated xx

Thanks. I've registered online now and will call tomorrow if I'm still bleeding. It's easing off a bit. Did they have to do anything to remove the clot?

when i had my early miscarriages there was very definite period like pain along with the bleeding

Nope they said the clot would just get obsored and it did x

I really hope everything is ok hun x there are plenty of ladies that bleed during pregnancy so try not to fret too much xx

Although I haven't experienced this myself, it is something I have Googled and I know you can have previous/old blood come out, could it be that? Keeping fingers crossed for you that it's nothing more sinister x

The EPU nurse says it sounds like implantation bleeding but if it goes on for more than 5 days to call back. Wish it would stop...it's only just over 2 days so far.

Just popping in briefly sunflower. I know this is such a worrying time for you. It does sound like IB and i do hope it settles for you soon. Look after yourself and keep us posted x

Thanks Melly. I don't know if you have found this, but there was a long pause after I told her my birth year, which was a bit unsettling. I don't think they get many women in their 40s. Hope you are doing well xx

Hopefully the bleeding stops and it is a IB . Keep us updated I have everything crossed for you xxxxx

Around 5 weeks i had bright red blood slowly went pink then finaly brown. Last around a day only little bit went on pad was only really when i wiped. Also had cramping that was with my daughter.

With my mcs i had horrible pains before any blood, then lots and lots of blood, as in my bath water turned pink.
My other mcs were simular pain then blood. X

Oh also, any bleeding the EPU should see you, not after 5 days. Go to your GP and try and get them to refer you.

My mum was 41 when she fell pregnant with my younger brother, 42 when she had him. He's now 18. Back then, they tried to convince her she was too old and to terminate. She didn't (obviously) and proved them wrong. I'm sorry the lady you spoke to made you feel like your age is something to worry about xo

Here in Australia there are more women who have babies when they're over 40 than under 20. Don't know if it's different in the UK but even so, they should've seen loads of women your age!

I did get that....and when i had recent 2nd mmc last month midwife said its not that uncommon but no reason why i can conceive again. Decided not to ttc again. I feel lucky to have my two. Lots of women in 40s have healthy pregnancies so fingers crossed its IB xx
