Help! I need some advice!

Just below my bum, at the very top of each thigh, it really aches. Its only when I move, especially at night in bed and when I first get up in the morning/or the umpteen times I go to the toilet in the night!
I've had it for the last 2 weeks but over the weekend its really beginning to hurt and is actually effecting my walking.

Does this sound like SPD?? Or am I just a wimp and this is normal pregnancy pains?? :)

mine felt more like an awful grinding pain but it might be ask your midwife i had a strtchy band thing to wear on bump it helped a bit but was annoying to wear

YEP SPD.....

My pain is right along my bum cheeks and through into my lady parts! Feels like I have ridden a massive horse for a week! all underneath is sore and swollen...... this is basically the bottom part of your pelvis... I also get the grinding in the front part but this has only been a recent thing..

Basically your pelvis in in 4 parts and is split in the front and in the back. The back"join" is the sacro illliac join and the front "join" is the symphysis pubis join, these are held together by cartlidge and strong bands of muscle. It is this muscle that loosens in pregnancy causing the bones to move about... nice! You can have pain in either the front or back joins or even just on one side........ chances are though if you have started to have pains it will only get worse as your pregnancy develops.... mine has!

Hope this helps!

:rotfl: Yep, that's exactly how it feels right now!!

Should I make an appointment with my MW? I've got a doctors antenatal in 2 weeks and a 'real' MW appointment in 4, should I just wait until then or do I need to see someone now. I mean, is there anything they can actually do/give me?? Or do I just need to focus through it (I hate bugging them for every little thing!) Is it ok to take paracetamol on a regualr basis? Sorry for so many questions!!
Thanks

Your midwife might refer you for physio. I got crutches and a support belt from my physio - the crutches were a god send, the support belt was a waste of elastic. They'll also give you advice on how to move around without it hurting, and suggest some exercises.

I used to tie my knees together with a scarf to stop me moving them - especially during the night. If you put a spare duvet down the side of the bed, you can do a controlled flop onto the floor to get up.

i rung my midwife and she came round to see me then referred me to physio

My midwfie has done nothing about it for me. The hospital said they would refer me but I am satill waiting for an appointment! Am seeing them again on Friday and will mention it then but its a bit late now!

I keep getting told " its all part of pregnancy"

Thanks for all of the replies
I've booked an appointment with my GP for tomorrow as its got worse today. I'm having real difficulty walking. Hopefully he will give me something for the pain.

tracyM, think I'll try tying my legs together tonight!

I have been advised to sleep with a pillow between my legs to keep them apart......... if they are forced together then they can cause extra pressure on your ligaments....... try it though and see which position you find most comfortable. Thats the most important thing at the end of the day!
