Okay so I realised I have no idea how to or what to put a newborn in...we've got those legless and armless baby grows and full ones so is it one of the best ones and then a full baby grow as well as a blanket? I've never even had A chance to change a new born as all my friends babies are a bit older and don't need to be kept warm. I don't even know why it's popped into my head but it has haha xxx

I put my lo in a short sleeved vest with all in one sleepsuit on top. Then cardigan etc if too cold xxx

Oooh okay so I have the right idea haha thank you I just felt really dense for a bit think wtf do I do here?! His little cardy is adorable :) so vest sleep suit and cardy and a blanket? He's a September baby or will be depending on when he comes along :) xxx

Thank you :) I think I'm going crazy tbh just keep forgetting things xx

I think the advice the midwives and health visitors give is that baby needs one extra later than you. So if you would wear a t shirt and a cardigan, they will also need a vest.... And to check babys chest and back to see if they are too hot. It's best for them to be on the cold side than too hot as they revert back to being in the womb and can stop breathing (esp at night/ when sleeping) - not trying to sound scary, just reeling off everything I remember HV telling me lol.
I'm hoping my motherly instinct will kick in and I'll recognise if baby seems uncomfortable x

I am a FTM and also have no clue about how to dress a newborn but I'm kind of hoping we will learn as we go :)

1 extra layer than you

So if your wearing a top and a cardy - put baby in a vest sleepsuit and cardy

If your wearing jeans and a t shirt - dress baby in vest and sleepsuit

I'd say this time of year you should be using short sleeves or sleeveless vests or bodysuits - whatever you want to call them

FTMs don't panic - it's surprising how accustom you become! Always check chest and mid back for their temp never forehead or limbs

Normal to have cooler limbs than torso :)

Agree totally with above. Harry was n still is a warm baby/toddler takes after his dad. So I learnt pretty quick that he didn't need as much. Layers r fab as u can just take them off if they r hot or add a cardy or blanket if u think they r cold.

You will b surprised how quick u pick it all up.
