sorry dont want to upset, but got 2 questions

please if u dont mind answering for me.

i am about 5wks 2 dys pregnant with my second baby, and am having a "threatened miscarriage". i have been bleeding (well, spotting more like) on and off all month, cant remember when but probably before i was pregnant, during conception and afterwards right up until i got my BFP. i have had no cramps or pain whatsoever. the blood was more brown at first but since i last had intercourse on monday nite has been bright red and a bit heaver. not as heavy as a period, i only need pantliners, but heavier than i would describe as "spotting" now. and there are little clots/bits of dark tissue, about 4 the size of a sesame seed but one big one, well i say big but like the size of an almond, sort of flat and very dark, with a little bit of yellowy/creamy blob on one end. i suspect this could be a m/c, as i would expect the lil sac the baby is in to look something like it. it is the size of a petits pois, maybe not even that, maybe half a petits pois. iv kept it wrapped up in the pantliner it came out onto. i am having no cramps at all which i take as a good sign, altho people with mmc's have no cramps either, not even any blood for that matter so i know there doesnt always have to be cramps. what do u think honestly? i know i'll find out tomorrow anyway but i am in work and if i think its gonna be bad news i shall call in sick, i cant deal with news like that and carry on working.

my questions are:

1. if this is a m/c, am i allowed to wear tampons? i hate pads they make me feel dirty. i have worn tampons before i realised i was pregnant, when i thought the spotting was my period. but stopped since the BFP.

2. i had my blood hcg test done on wednesday nite (level was 961) and am back at EPU tonite to see if they have doubled
am i supposed to take the suspected m/c with me to show them? sorry if this question is upsetting or wierd i just dont know what to do

im not sure wht to advise but id think you should take the pantyliner with u hun just so they can see whats been los ton to it. i do hope all is still okay

I would say take the liner with you just in case - if they don't want to see it then fine but at least they have the option.

If I were you I would stick with pads just incase - you can always ask tomorrow.

1. no dont wear a tampon, stick to pads cos you dont want to get an infection and have showers not baths.

2. i would take it just to see if its what you think it is but it does sound a bit like what i lost and i was told it was probably part of the plug. It loooked like a cyst to me in consistancy, very blobby like.


Because youve been spotting pre conception then it doesnt sound like a miscarriage to me, but obviously I don't know for certain. I think you should get checked out anyway incase there is something else wrong as you shouldnt be spotting all that time.
Your hcg was good, i was told for 6 weeks they like to see 1,000 and yours was nearly that at 5 weeks so i wouldnt give up hope on this baby yet trixie.

thanku for all your replies ladies. i am SO pinning my hopes on all being well, as the bleeding isnt heavy still, still no cramps

at the same time i am trying to force those hopes back, so if i get bad news tomorrow it will hurt less

i took whatever it was with me but they didnt ask to see it. iv since had a lil peek and i cant see the creamy bit, so it may've soaked into the liner, or i imagined it! i squidged the dark bit, (sorry tmi!) and it just looks like a clot or a bit of skin. i'm hoping thats all it was, and iv still got the baby in there, and its healthy!

With my first m/c I had no cramping until after my hCG was through the floor (7.1) and then it was only like a very mild period pain. But my bleeding was heavier than yours (like a light period).

This time I had period pain even before the bleeding started which got worse over the 3 days I was bleeding. I was in a lot of pain.

I think everyone is different and, while there is of course a chance that it's a m/c, it certainly sounds like it might not be, especially as the bleeding started before conception...

Hey trixi,

to be honest, to me that doesnt sound like a miscarriage.. when i miscarried, there was no mistaking the sac.. i was 6 weeks 5 days when i miscarried though, and the sack was quite big and white....

Also, may help you, when i had an early transvaginal scan at the epu the sac was 9mm, and i was 5 weeks and 4 days then, so thast the size it would be roughly.

My HCG was the 967ish at 5 weeks exactly, and kept doubling etc but i still miscarried. However, i had a pretty much problem pregnancy, i had been bleeding LOADS and having horrendous pains, especially to my right side. Those pains had started at about 5 weeks and continued untl i had medical management of my missd miscarriage.

I wouldnt wear tampons if i were you hun
