Just got back from my physio apppointment (felt like a bit of a fraud, as it has got a lot better in the past week or so!).

Thought i would share the list of tips, for anyone else suffering (most are pretty obvious) and im sure a few wont make OH very happy : -

  • Take weight off your pelvis as much as possible
  • Avoid activities that separate the legs
  • Take small steps when walking
  • Keep legs together when getting in and out the car
  • Keep legs together when rolling in bed
  • When getting out of bed roll on your side first and keep your legs together
  • Squeeze your bum when getting up
  • Avoid heavy lifting & delegate household chores especially vacuuming
  • Avoid breast stroke when swimming
  • Avoid squatting in labour
Didnt actually do any excercises, she just gave me advice.

avoid squatting in labour? How else can you labour without putting your legs in that position?

She said to avoid the actual squatting position, as your hips will have no support. Everything else is fine, like on all fours, kneeling upright, kneeling forward supported on a birthing ball.

She said the best labour position to support hips an back is lying on your side, with someone supporting your upper leg.

She also said birthing pool would be really helpful.

Im sure though when im in labour, i will just be trying to get in the most comfortable position possible and my hips will be the last thing on my mind! x

ah okay, that makes more sense, so you kind of can take the squatting position if your weight is off your feet. Phew! thanks for the info. Im planning on using the pool already, I think it will really help with a lot of different positions and movement which should help.
