Sore ear remedies?

I've had a horrendously sore head, ear and throat for a week now (initally with fever as well, although this is now gone), and the antibiotics the gp prescribed appear to do nothing but to give me and Samira an icky tummy. He's also prescribed Diclofenac, since Paracetamol and Codeine don't even touch the pain, but I don't dare take it since the leaflet says not to take it whilst breastfeeding. (GP said it was ok, but I don't trust him very much - my OH and I secretly call him "Dr Self-Diagnosis", because whenever you go to him he asks you what you think is wrong with you and what you think should be done and then goes along with whatever you have said ). Thing is, I really can't cope with this pain any more, especially my earache is really horrible, and I'm usually quite good with pain. Does anybody know of any natural remedies for earache that I could try without it affecting Samira? Thank you!

If you still have pain and antibiotics didn't work I think you should go back, sounds like infection is still there, I had to have 2 different lots to get rid of a bad one I had, something is not right if you still have pain like that, you poor thing xxx

Not sure if it'll help but I quite often have ear problems. What helps me is warm up a bit of olive oil (shop bought is what I use) and put some in my ears. One ear at a time and you'd best leave a good time gap in between. Once you have put some in your ear, lay on your side with that ear facing up. 15 to 20 mins should be ok but just have some cotton wool to hand in case of any leaks. Really helps me.xx

We always used the olive oil or almond oil method when I was a child. Really soothing, but not sure if it will do anything for the infection?

How about a bit of breastmilk in there?! might help?
