Hey ladies,
HAd my 28 week appt a 2 weeks ago, when midwife measured Height of fundus, she said i was measuring for 31/32weeks instead!
I'm not sure if means shes big or that my dates are wrong.
I really was convinced my dates are wrong i feel more heavily pregnant than 30 weeks.
I really hope shes right because then LO will be here for xmas!!!!
Whoo!
If Im still measuring too big at next appt, on the 31st, then gonna have a scan to take new measurements and see what happens from there!
this happened to anyone else before??
and was LO early?
done want to get my hopes up lol.

xxx

I measured big with my 2nd and 3rd daughters from about 28 weeks and I'm afraid the only thing it meant was that they were both big babies! They were both 5 days late and weighed 9lb 5oz and 10lb.

You are lucky that they are considering a growth scan. I have requested growth scans if I measure big this time round because baby number 3 got stuck and I'm scared of it happening again. But my midwife was really funny about it when I mentioned it at my booking in appt and just said she didn't think they'd do that.

Hope I haven't scared ya. The other possibility to consider is that babies grow at different rates and will have slow growth and fast growth periods, just like when they are born. So chances are that you may have evened out again by your next appt. Good luck and let us know x

Oh, also it could be that you are carrying more amniotic fluid than normal. Don't think it's anything to worry about but just another possibility. TBH if your dating scan agreed with your LMP date I think it's very unlikely your due date is wrong.

If you had your dating scan i wouldnt of thought your date are wrong. i am measuring big and may have a growth scan next time. it could be your carrying more fluid or your having a big baby.

I doubt she means your dates are wrong. Its quite common for fundal height to vary in the latter stages of pregnancy. Lots of women have this happen. Its far from an exact science and it has nothing to do with your due dates. Often its down to how that particular MW measures or often it can be the way the baby is lying, bigger baby, excess fluid or some such.

I'd not read much into fundal height. If you remain ahead or keep getting bigger then a growth scan makes sense to check the size of the baby. But that won't alter your due date, it will mean you have a bigger baby. Or excess fuild or some such. Or just that baby is normal sized but your fundal height is bigger.

I measured ahead from 28 weeks. Had two growth scans, at 34 and 37 weeks. I didn't worry about them tbh. They can be out by 25% either way. Was told baby was big. Not surprised as they tend to be on both sides. LO was born just after his due date. 9lb 15ozs :)
