Hey, I know this is a bit odd but i was given this tip when i waqs pregnant last time and after my birth i promised myself i would tell everyone i knew who was pregnant.....

I've never been a beliver in homeopathic remedies but someone I know advised me to take Arnica which is a remedy for bruising from about 38 weeks to help me recover quickly after labour.
My labour was pretty traumatic and i ended up with an emergancy C Section after a failed Rotational forceps (pretty brutal!). Needless to say both me and LO sould have been black and blue. I was warned by MW that I should expect a lot of discomfort 'down there' due to bruising but..... not a dickie bird, we were both absolutely fine. LO, although getting stiuck in my pelvis then having to be delivered with the use of forceps in a c section had not a bruise in sight.

I know everyone should do what is right for them but I found for me that it really worked. Might be worth a thought.

Anyone else got a really useful tip for pregnancy or birth??

Ohh great tip!! Will be doing this myself. Cheers x

perrineal massage with vitamin E oil after 34 weeks, rosehip tea after 36 weeks...and now arnica. We should just be given this stuff in our bounty packs I reckon!!!

Yes I used Arnica, after my C-section the midwife said she had never seen such bad bruising *ooo get me!* so I used Arnica pillules and it really helped!

my mum swears by the stuff, I'll definitely be taking it!

:) Thanks!

Awesome tip, thanks! Midwives have only become legal in western Canada in the last 8 years so most of us see ObGyn's. Doctors just don't believe in anything "holistic" so most moms never hear about this stuff. I had a midwife for my last baby. I worked with her for 2 years prior and loved her to death. My daughter's birth was so different compared to my son. Now we live WAY north....alas, no midwives so I'm back to the OB.

:) Thanks!

Dont drink the Rosehip before 36 weeks though, theres some evidence that it brings on labour when taken earlier in pregnancy!

I wont don't worry! :)

They say lavender can bring on labour too. Which is weird...as my maternity pillow COMES with a bottle of lavender oil :eh: Eh?!

Haha! Tell me about it! Might give the midwife an ask about the lavender oil! Although lavender ANYTHING reminds me of my grandma so wont be lathering it on in a hurry anyway...! lol!

I have lavendar bath salts! Did you get an answer from your midwife Tasha?

rosehip tea? is that ment to have a similar effect as the raspberry leaf tea. theres some rumours about that bringing on labour and said not to drink before 36 weeks. i googled it and apparently its really good for helping with labour

Not seeing her again until next Fri so i'll ask then - I've only seen her twice so far this pregnancy! lol! It's every 2-4 weeks from here out though!

Thanks for the reminder though...memory like a sieve at the mo! lol! x
