Ello just a quick question.

I was talking to OHs mum the other day about Elora not sleeping through etc. I said I might start giving her some baby rice before bed and she shouted at me telling me it causes cot-death.

Is this true, or she she just being a dozzymair??

I have never heard this before....

Also i know its not the same thing but after Keeley has lunch about an hour later she goes to sleep...

So if this is true do i keep her awake longer :?

I personally thought cot death was to do with genes

I have never heard of this.

i gave Oliver ready brec before bed and this really helped him sleep all night. But my MIL didnt agree with it so when he stayed there he would wake up. thats how I knew it was working. MIL said it would hurt his tummy going to bed on a full tummy. he was over 8 months when I started to do this.

Thought she was full of crap.
She just doesnt want me to get a good nights sleep :(

Thats exactly what Harrison does.

I've never heard this before either

I don't think its true as if it was surley one of us would have heard about it  :)

What about all the little babies who die of cot death before they are weaned? I've never heard of it

i have heard that some foods can lay to heavy on babies bellys and they can struggle to breath - i have heard it about bannanas!

but Harley has always had 4 meals a day

breakfast
lunch
tea
readybreak / weatabix before getting in the bath then straight to bed

Hiya

SOunds like a old wives tale to me. Conal still see's his consultant and he was aware from 13weeks that Conal had a rusk before bed and never once mentioned it to me which he definatly would of if it caused cot death don't worry about it

No it isn't true or else all babies that have something to eat in the evening would be at risk of cot death. At the age of six months if your LO did happen to bring any of it up i'm sure she would turn her head if you were worrying about that. Also the risk of cot death is a lot lower after six months anyway. Jake usually has his food at about 5.30pm and then he has a bottle of milk before going to bed at about 7pm.

What a load of rubbish, lol there was a time they would add rusks to bottles and cut a bigger hole.

The only reason why I have never given Olivia anything past 5 30 is because she has a bad belly if shes had her meal 30 -40 mins before bed so i wouldnt ever do it.

At the end of the day you need your sleep, How much of solids is she having during the day tho? maybe increasing her calorie intake might help.

Thanks for your repliys. I thought it was a really daft thing to say. Stoopid MIL, that will teach me for listening to her
