Just wanted to share my happiness as I had the MW on wednesday and was very anxious about telling her I was having a homebirth, especially seeing as it is my first pregnancy and also letting her know we'd be using hypnobirthing techniques.

Anyways, to cut a long story short, she was very positive about the whole thing. She was actually very interested in the hypnobirthing too, and I had gone with lots of info on it for her and she was grateful to receive it as another mumtobe she was seeing had asked her about it and now I had saved her finding out about it and classes in the area etc hehe

I wanted to share this with everyone because I was very wrong in thinking my MW wouldn't be positive about my choosing a homebirth, I just wanted my experience to hopefully give a little comfort and confidence to anyone wishing the same, if you're feeling anxious about telling your MW, first baby or not

I'm so so happy about it all, and I now feel like everything's in order, and I'm feeling so happy, positive and confident in my, our, choices for the birth of our son :cheer:

Glad it went well hun and that you feel that everything is in order Gracexx

Thats brilliant hun, glad to hear she was supportive and interested

glad your appointment went so well hun xxxxxx

yay! :cheer:

when i told people soon after i found out i was pregnant that i planned to give birth at home, some said "ooh, they might not let you as its your first" :x but my MW has been fine about it, im really happy about that.

it really annoys me when people say stuff implying that homebirths are unsafe and i'm putting my baby at risk by not having all hospital facilities to hand. the people who say this kind of rubbish are always people who have never had any children anyway what do they know! :x

its refreshing when people are supportive- thanks for sharing your happiness!

Thankyou again everyone :)

And a very big special thankyou trixipaws, it is great to hear you say what you just did, I do agree peeps think hospital is best, it's not, it's a personal choice, and it should be whatever mum wants, whatever that is and homebirths have pos and neg like a hospital birth, there's also the homebirths webstie and yahoo group, where you can read homebirth stories, and it's not 'dangerous', it's beautiful and mums should be supported either way in their choice, home or hospital, thankyou trixipaws for sharing your feelings too, very best wishes, and I am glad your MW was supportive with you too
