Well.....
I was diagnosed with PCOS on 21st Nov 2013 and my doc said he wants to put me on the pill for 3 months back to back in the hope that it somehow sorts out my hormones ( no idea why as it seems to be the COMPLETE OPPOSITE of what we're trying to do! Normally when first starting the pill you're meant to start it on the first day of your period but my doc said as we don't know when that would be he said start it straight away.
I had a 'positive' opk on cd22 and thought I was in my tww- turned out I didn't actually ovulate and just had a false postive so I started the pill on cd39 which was last Monday. Then last Thursday so 4 days after starting the pill I woke up in the night with horrendous stomach pains and really sore boobs. Thought it might hav been side effect of the pill and Friday morning woke up with brown discharge so stopped taking the pill Friday Saturday Sunday and Monday and been having brown discharge for 3 days then since Monday brown with slight blood.
Looked back at my notes and what I thought I was 10dpo when in my supposed tww (cd32) I had pulling pains in right side and ewcm but ignored it as thought I had ovd according to the postive test on cd21...... Sooooo exactly 2 weeks after my 10dpo day I started getting blood with the brown discharge so thinking tho could be af?? Or because I stopped taking the pill? I took it yesterday and today figuring that I need to start it on first day of af.

Haven't had a proper flow since August 19th. Had a few random days of brown spotting since August so really don't know what to class as af or not.

Sorry for the long post and I hope it all makes sense.

Just wondered if any ladies with PCOS also got told to go on the pill for 3 months.... Xxx

Aw I bet you're going mad trying to work it all out :(

I've heard it's often the first response of doctors to put someone on the pill to sort out irregular periods, and it works for some people by just resetting their cycles. They don't seem to understand that for a woman ttc its very difficult to put your plans on hold for so long when theres no guarantee itll help. Think theres another medication they can give u to bring on AF which is sometimes used before clomid but don't know what it's called, sorry. Maybe ask in a clomid thread if anyone's taken it?

I would look at all of the options and if you decide to try the pill you'll need to stick to it while your body might get odd symptoms and bleeding while the hormones sort themselves out. I've found using opks is just confusing as they're so unreliable they stress me out trying to work them out. Hope you manage to get your cycles sorted out soon, or get your BFP! :) x

hey hun .. I too was told this year I had PCOS and my specialist knew I have very few AF .. once or twice a year grr.. So my specialist put me on metformin which had made me have AF every month or every other month .. Ask to see if thats a better option .. I would be the same tbh I would not be happy to go on the pill .. I want a baby too bad pmsl xx

sending baby dust

kels xx

Thanks for replying ladies. I'm still having bad cramping that has been on off for about a week so if no change over weekend I'm going to doctors Monday xx

Well af arrived last Thursday and finished today. Will start up the pill again in a few weeks- hoping that because I'm off work for two weeks I'm relaxed and hopefully I'll ovulate on my own. If not then I'll go back on it for 2 months then hopefully get fertility drugs after that. Figured that it was af on the way that gave me the awful cramps x

aww good luck bbe FX now to get your BFP on this cycle .. hot water is brill for cramps .. thats what i have been having last 2 weeks and in my one leg... xxx
