Sorry to jump right in with a question here, but I'm hoping someone will be able to help me.
I have just discovered that I was supposed to tell my employers IN WRITING that I was pregnant and when I was going on leave before 25 weeks. I'm now almost 28 weeks.
I did tell them ages ago, but verbally, and 25 weeks fell in the middle of the summer holidays. I work in a private school so it's not LEA or anything, I just had to tell my Head. She never mentioned that I needed to put it in writing.
Does anyone know if this really matters that I didn't do it in writing? The govt. website I checked didn't say to do it in writing, but a magazine I was just reading did.
The website just says:
"You must tell your employer when you want your maternity pay and leave to start. You should do this by the 15th week before your baby is due."
