go to your gp and ask for a appointment with the no smoking clinic they really helped me better than trying to go cold turkey

I went straight off cigarettes when i was about 8 weeks pregnant! I had it easy with giving up as I can't even look at one now! X

i just went cold turkey, as soon as i found out, no matter how much i craved a cig the thought of babys lungs filling up with smoke was enough to not light up. before then i used to smoke 10 a day xxx

this is the same for me. i used to light one and then the taste and smell put me off! Went cold turkey after 2 years of smoking

i smoked for 11 years. gave up gradually when finding out and now i have a drag now and again from someone at work which prob together is like half a fag a week. I dont think about cig at home anymore its just at work now and again when im really stressed.
Last time i had a Whole fag was prob about 15 weeks ago.

Well done for giving up!! I quit while pregnant with Lacey as I couldn't have a drag without ending up with my head down the loo! It's hard to start with but it'll get easier! I haven't smoked in nearly 5 years now!! Yay!! Your do it if you keep at it!

When I first got pregnant I was a heavy smoker but was on the pill wasnt planning on a baby and found out I was pregnant at 5ish weeks, I went cold turkey.. when I found out my baby died, I think I went went back on the cigs and smoked about 30 that day, but I wonder if I caused my babys death cos I was smoking, I was also on choloesteral pills which shouldn't be taken when pregnant, but I didn't know, think I smoked for about a week after the evac, then stopped as was trying again for a baby. Got a positve this morning and went into to town and people smoking outside tescos made me feel really sick, don't want to look at another cig, I dont want to kill my baby cos I have always got in the back of my mind did, I cause the miscarriage cos of me smoking and on medication? :(

just cut down gradually i think is the best thing i smoked alot and now i smoke none its easier says than done but just think about your little baby thats what i done ;) good luck xxx

I quit cold turkey after 7 years of smoking 20 a day. My doc said he wouldn't give me any nicotine replacement unless I really needed it so to try on my own first. It took me 2 days after getting our BFP to stop completely but i've not touched a smoke since. The morning sickness helped too! Lol!
The sooner you quit the better the benefit to both you and your baby. Well done so far, keep it up though. It's a hard battle. I sometimes get cravings now but the thought of damaging my baby is enough for me to walk away. Good luck x

Thanks for everyones opions smokin makes me feel sick now x

Oranges.... I gave up in January have been a smoker for 15 years but gave up as knew I was going to be ttc later this year!! I work in an office and found that oranges were great as they kept my hands busy and left a nice fresh taste in my mouth... plus they are good for you :)

Well done all you ex smokers - brilliant news , just think of the extra money for baby too !

I have managed to stop too, last fag i had was about 4 weeks ago

I have been tempted but have always been a social smoker so it's been 'quite' easy, god knows if i will keep it up when bubs is here :eh:

I heard accupuncture helps really well with supressing the addiction feelings (and you actually find the taste of cigarettes horrible when you do smoke). I never smoked so I don't know if this is for everyone, but I did hear many good things about this. Might give it a try?

I stopped as soon as i found out i was pregnant at 3 weeks, i actually found it easier than i thought it would be, as i have tried loads of times before and failed. My advice would be to just think about the harm you could do to your baby if you smoke. I want to keep it up now he is here, especially as you aren't meant to go near a baby for 45minutes after smoking as you are still breathing out toxic fumes, its going ok so far.

Good luck to everyone giving up xxx

Hi, I smoked for over ten years and hate to admit it but I did enjoy a fag! Two years ago my Lung collasped and that was the end !! I was told I couldnt anymore so I did stop but it is hard and I did by will power alone - the first couple of weeks are hard but if you keep going it gets easier. Last year I tried the end of a mates cig and it nearly burnt my throat outta me ! I do still think of them but to be honest I dont ever think I will again! Good Luck just dont buy them and try to not be around smokers for a few weeks- cud be hard!x

its not so much that i like it in fact it knocks me sick but im trying very very very hard to stop for the sake of my baby and myself and i know i can do this im makin progress
