The reason they shouldn't do a smear until 12 weeks post partum is that the cells on the cervix have been disturbed by giving birth and it is more likely to come back as inadequate and need to be done again, which involves you waiting a further 12 weeks from the test.My gp did my smear test when i went fo my 6 week check. I said i'd had a letter telling me i needed one now i'm 25 but did i need to wait and she said no and did it there and then.

That's not what the NHS (England) guidelines say. Only if you are due one, ie it is either 3 years since your last or you had a previous abnormal result and are due sooner.I am a bit confused though is it a must after having a babyx
