I have found some online but i am hoping to find some more basic recipes that don't include all the fancy herbs and stuff, can anyone help? Thanks x

Today we just put some onion, chicken, mushrooms and carrots in, filled it up with white wine and served it with pasta. Yummy.

Not a real recipe, quantities were just by eyesight.

I tend to guess cook too,

Tomorrow its stew. Can of Gunniuss, carrot, sweade, potato, mushrooms, beef, and tin of chopped toms, some tom puree and a oxo cube and hope for the best lol!

Chilli- Mince beef, peppers all different colours, mushrooms, some chilli powder,2 oxo cube, onion, choped toms, puree, baked beans (drain out the tomato sauce) you can add some chillis to make it hotter if you like it but I dont really like too much hot, so I make it for the flavor rather than to burn my mouth!!!

I don't really know how to cook so I just guess my way!!!! I would lightly cook it in a pan then put it in the slow cooker for a couple hours on low I'm guessing!!!

I think it would work good I always make chilli then leave it and warm in the micro wave a couple hours later lol! Its lovely! The reheating tends to thicken it up and it tastes better so Im guessing a slow cooker would have the same effect!

Thankyou they all sound great :D I will be trying those out sometime next week

ok give me a couple of days as my mum is rather busy lol :D

Scouse!

Although people probably call it 'stew' who aren't from Liverpool. My mum's recipe is great, it's really tasty, even the kids love it :D Mum doesn't use a slow cooker but the meat cooks from morning til tea time in the pan on a very low heat.

Ingredients: (a lot of the time she just uses what's in the cupboard for flavouring in the gravy, it's all about trying new things and not being scared to put random things into the mix!)

Use your standard packet of stewing steak
1 onion (chopped)
1 beef OXO cube
Salt and pepper
1/2 - 3/4 pint of boiling water
Add another beef OXO cube
Add some diced carrot and turnip
Potato chopped into small cubes
Add more boiling water (enough to cover all the veg)

This can be left all day until the meat and veg is soft.

Add some gravy granules to thicken it an hour or so before serving, give it a last stir and it can be served.

That's what my mum uses but she says you can add anything you want, this is guaranteed to be really tasty!

Enjoy!

That sounds good too thanks! i have done chicken/lemon/garlic/spuds/carrots tonight and chucked some herbs and chickpeas in, it was gorgeous!! I think its just a case of chucking stuff in and trying it as you say :D

I have done one today which is great for using up items from fridge/freezer/store cupboard. It's made up and changes each time i make it depending on whats in the cupboards!

On the hob I browned some sausages & bacon and also some chopped onions and small chunks of potatoes. Sometimes I add mushrooms or peppers or use chizoro all depends what i need to use up.

Once above all brown add a tin of baked beans and chopped tomatoes and bring up to the boil. To flavour I add a tablespoon of tomato puree, salt, pepper and some sweet chili sauce to taste but you could add BBQ or Worcester sauce. Transfer to slo cooker and cook on low for 6-10 hours.

I did mine today for 6/7 hours and also put the bread machine on so we had some lovely bread to eat with it.

added bonus its a cheap meal to do :cheer:

This morning i just chucked in some potatoes, carrots, leek, cauliflower and brocoli, a tin of chopped tomatoes and half a cup of hot water with a stock cube in. I added some browned beef cubes to it and turned it on low. I'll serve it with some crusty bread when Richard gets home from work.

I have just got a slow cooker and am just using it for the first time! Only thing that I am confused about is how much liquid to add to it - I have put in enough to cover everything as that seems to be the idea when I googled it, but I am worried I am going to have a very runny chilli!
