Hi ladies, having a bit of an issue when feeding.

I can get a pretty good latch at the start of a feed but quite often near the end of a feed once she starts to get drowsy, she's adjusting and changing the latch for the worse. It's really painful and unlatching is often the most painful part of all (breaking the suction with my little finger) Any ideas on how I can prevent this?

I wish I knew as mine does the same (plus tiring arm tends to lose support in long feeds).

Might add it to the list of things to discuss at feeding clinic - have you got one near you you could go to?

I'm going to one on Wednesday so I can ask then :)

Do you do anything to wake baby up midway during the feed? I had a different problem (very short frequent feeds-basically couldn't be bothered to do a proper feed as he would just go it sleep on boob) . But sounds like baby us drowsy and then isn't thinking about feeding properly is thinking about having a dose.

when I went to bf support group the solution was to wake baby up by using lots of different methods , it was quite harsh but we needed to get it sorted, i did things like, stripping them down to just a nappy, tickling, cold hands, changing nappy, excitable talking.
