Hello,

I have just moved over to the third trimester! Soooo hello!!

Has anyone noticed that their baby is sleepy after a busy day before? I have still felt her move today but no where near as much. Yesterday she was non stop!

Also the movements feel different. Lower down and almost scratchy at times!! M
Anyone had any experience with similar?

Thanks

Maybe she's moved position so you can't feel the movements as much as you could before? Especially if where you usually feel them has changed. I find they can sometimes have a quieter day but make up for it the next day. Try having a cold drink and lying on your left side - this is meant to help increase movements.

I think she has moved. I noticed the same last week, she's usually across but I'm sure moved head down. That scares me!! She was right on one yesterday all day so I'm sure she is just sleepy!

It's weird when they move and things change! The first few times I got kicked down really low I wondered what on earth was going on  turns out they'd turned again.

Do you get more tightenings when they are in certain positions?

Not really because I don't think they've moved much. There's two in there so not so easy for them to constantly change positions. I get quite a few tightenings in general though. I had quite a few last Wednesday afternoon/evening - they were coming roughly every 20 minutes but stopped once I got up and about. I'm going to start having warm baths to take a bit of pressure off and hopefully help my back/hips but can't go unless hubs is here as I can't get out the bath on my own lol.

If I do get tightenings I try to get up for a walk about and they tend to go - I usually get them mostly when I'm sat on the sofa so try not to be sitting down too long. Also try and keep hydrated as dehydration can cause your uterus to contract, I'm drinking lots of tea at the moment and try to have at least 3 pints of water/diluting juice a day as well. Not good for the constant need to pee though

Haha no it's a catch 22. Keep hydrated ,which of course is much needed ,but getting off the sofa and and and down stairs is getting harder!

How far along are you?

My tightenings seem to happen no matter what I do, they aren't increasing which is good. Think it's 'irritable uterus'. Seeing the consultant next week which I'm glad about.

It's unreal, I think I've been at least 4 times since about 6pm lol. Not easy when I really struggle to get off the sofa and hubby is out tonight! I'm 29 weeks today so 8 weeks max to go, I was measuring 37 weeks when I saw the midwife last week though so getting a bit fed up now!

Bless you. I can imagine you're getting fed up now. I'm finding it hard just with one baby! Not long now tho

Sometimes mine goes a few hours now with no moving. My placenta is at the front though so think sometimes he hides behind there and I can't feel him as easily, though most kicks now are right under my ribs- nice lol. Xx

Ive had different movements today hope the midwife can give me an idea of position on weds. Ive been feeling short sharp pains above the foof so not sure if the heads moved down that way. I get movement to the top left and bottom right but feeling pressure on my bladder!

Before I was 24 weeks and my baby was still getting into a really regular pattern, I used to think pretty much the same, that my baby had sleepy days. I spoke to my midwife about it and she drilled it into my head that it is really important not to think of it as having a sleepy day and for any quietness in activity at all, to call the midwife as soon as possible.

She basically said yes, movements can feel less strong depending on position of baby, but the frequency of movements i.e. how many times a day, certain time between movements etc, should always be the same. She was quite serious about it too, which made me stop thinking of it as lazy days completely and now I make sure that I feel them move in some way or other at their regular time, otherwise I get that number ready to call!

Any changes in movement should be reported to a midwife.

I totally agree with this but what if you don't have a pattern?? I have two in there so that's two patterns to look for?! They have no set pattern apart from they are most active in the evening. Some days I might not feel them much throughout the day at all until evening but other days I will feel them - it all depends on what I'm doing. If I'm sat down during the day then I'll probably feel them but not if I'm up and about. Also most of the time I can't tell which one is moving.

If in doubt I'd report it anyway. Better to "waste" time on a ctg than to assume everything is fine and miss a distress signal.

I totally understand that lack of movement should be reported but surly as long as baby can still be felt this is ok? Movements are bound to feel different when in different positions?

Definitely 'like' the count the kicks page on Facebook! Lots of info on there and u can post for immediate advice. But if it doubt ring a midwife! X

I defiantly agree with liking the count the kicks Facebook page. My midwife never really mention movement she just asked me do I feel him move. Which I did. After reading things on there website I knew it was important to get to know my baby's pattern. The feeling of movement does change but you should always have the same pattern. I had increased erratic movements at 38weeks followed by reduced movements. I went into triage an everything was fine. It happened again at 40 weeks and they induced me. Even in labour they still ask you if you can feel baby moving. Baby's movements never slow down even towards the end. I don't want to frighten anyone but any difference you feel I'd deffo go and get it checked. Even of its just for your own peace of mind :)xx
