I can't believe what is happening in my house.
The past three yes three nights my little boy has slept through!
He hasn't done this in over a year!
We've been going from pillar to post trying to get him to sleep.
Right now we have him in his cot bed next to our bed. Because moving to his own room didn't work!
So not only is out of my bed but he is sleeping!
Sorry to go on ladies, but for those with lo's who don't sleep it really does happen!! X

My son was about the same age when this happened, he's still in our room.. What helped the most was when we took the sides off.. Turned out being in an enclosed space would just make him upset to begin with which is why travel cots never did anything for him!

After this stage we moved it to the wall still in our room with the side up on one side cause he's a wiggler and sometimes still falls out of bed! Then when we took the sides up he gone really brill. He's got to the point now, and my boy never self settled! that when we know he's tired and we put him in his own bed if he doesn't start messing he will fall asleep in bed.. He's got toys in the room and he can climb into our bed from his but he doesn't, he actually tends to sleep better in his own bed opposed to ours now because when he gets in ours he wants his legs on top of the covers and sleep INBETWEEN us rather than just sleep nxt to me so I have some duvet cover haha!

Wow your little one sounds so much like mine!
I used to hate how he slept on top of the cover haha. Especially when all you want to do is snuggle in.
He does sleep better with more room.
I so hope this lasts now. He did have a niggle this morning but it was 6 when he did that so we are still doing well!
It's hard work getting them to like sleeping and its hard for me because I work in the evening so my oh deals with bedtime most nights. Which is probably why he didn't have much of a routine.
Actually thinking about it, he started sleeping through when I was putting him to bed with being off work for Christmas. Sorry muttering thoughts to myself now lol! X

That would be same with us! OH has a tendency of getting him in our bed and read something while he waits for him to nod off! It started working against it and sometimes he sat up there for 1,5h! I would just settle him cuddle him tuck him in, say night night put monitor on and go back down stairs so he'd be asleep within 15-30 mins! If anything if he's too awake I tend to let him play while getting his room ready, maybe read a story (even though he's not that bothered unless he reads himself!) then when he climbs into his bed himself he starts having bottle, light out and he'll go sleep! It's not even too bad now if he climbs into our bed because we used to have the angel care with the matt on, it used to ease my mind with knowing he'd be in bed without the sides on.. But as he doesn't really get out of bed, nevermind out of the room he's fine with a normal monitor now.. (my OH wrecked the angel care after I forgot to switch it off one morning when I took him down and it went off haha) X

Our poor oh's lol.
I'm hoping to get to stage of letting him settle himself. That's the next step. I've found it is baby steps with sleeping. If we try and change too much at once. Like moving him from our bed to his own room or was too much so from our bed to a bed next to us is working wonders right now!
They won't be like this at 18. That's what keeps me going lol.
I've never used a mat. I'm tempted to get one when we have another and try and get them in their own room asap and that would give me peace of mind when they are in there at least! X
