Any bfing mummies cracked this yet?

If so, PLEASE tell me your secret, lol. Xx

Almost! He has slept til 7am once but mostly sleeps from 10pm til 5am.
My little man feeds almost constantly from around 7pm til he we go to bed at 10pm. He's obviously filling up for the night xx

I'll be watch this thread with interest! Does topping up with formula help them sleep through? 10-5 is really good cosmic but the 7-10 feeding is less appealing!

Haha I honestly don't mind because I'm usually just sat watching tv and my oh beings me food and drink because he knows I'll be feeding. Plus, I love the long sleep at night so it's worth it x

Not necessarily. They sleep through when they are ready. Some exclusively ff babies still wake through the night. X

On my iPhone - so cant see tickers :(

No formula doesn't make them sleep through.

Harry has a bf at night and usually around 5 oz of formula and doesn't sleep thru! Some nights he'll have more formula and it makes no difference to him!'

Ooh, interesting re feeding till 10 then sleeping till 5. That would be sweet.

As Eva won't take a dummy, if she wakes at night I have to feed/comfort her back to sleep. Trying to break the habit but when it's late and you're tired you do it without thinking xx

C doesn't sleep through but I am confident he will in his own time.

Five out of the eight babies in my NCT group sleep through and they are EBF xx

Wowzers 5/8? Guess they must just do it when they are ready. Just afraid Eva will be 18 when that time comes lol xxx

My oldest was breast fed and didn't sleep through until I weaned her and stopped breastfeeding her...was around 7 months. I tried everything. ..formula, dream feed etc, nothing worked. She just did it when she was ready.

Bethan on the other hand slept though from 4 weeks or so. Did nothing different..just got a more obliging baby. (But won't take a bottle but thats a whole other story...)

I stopped feeding bf my LO in the night routinely when she was 12 weeks old.

It may sound controversial, but after a stint in hospital for reflux and being told I was I over feeding her by the paediatricians and exacerbating the problem I decided I would cut back on the feeding. And what better feed to cut out than the middle of the night one right ;) I knew she was getting enough as she was gaining weight perfectly so it wasn't a problem at all.

As for sleeping through, hmmph. She continued to wake for a while when she would have been fed, and I just resettled with a dummy or a shush and a pat. But, around about 18 weeks we turned a corner. She slept from 10.30-7am and pretty much has done ever since.

I was intrigued when I saw this thread
My LO will be 5 months old end of Jan he is EBF
He has a routine of bath 7:30pm breast then bed for 8pm
He usually goes through till about 1:30 - 2am then wakes for a feed then he will try again around 3am sometimes but just takes his dummy then wakes again from 4:30-5:30 sometimes later
So on average I am up 3 times a night still sometimes feeding two or three times
We have started weaning as he was showing all the signs of being ready but at the moment not making any difference he still feeds between 6-9 times in 24 hours on the breast
I'm hoping he goes through the night soon but sure he will when he is ready : )

Madison started sleeping through from 5 weeks. She did this on her own and I just went with it. She will feed a lot in the evening from around 7.30pm and finally goes down from anywhere between 10.30am to midnight but will sleep until 6.30am sometimes 8am. She will wake up, feed then is back down for around 2 hours.
I didn't change anything she just did it herself. I'm lucky she started sleeping through so early on I don't know how I would cope if she started waking again.
I do do bath massage feed and bed, most of the time she is awake but I'm hoping she will soon learn its bed time.
I don't think for up makes babies sleep longer more when they are ready x

We're about to hit 8 months and he still wakes to feed at least once a night- once he's decided he's hungry/awake I have to feed him, I very very rarely get him back to sleep with a dummy despite him being up to 3 meals a day. On the other hand it's been so long since I had a full night's sleep that I don't know what I'm missing anymore!! lol

Lol know what you mean on the dont know what your missing lol
I wake up even if LO doesn't now ha ha

E are slowly getting there. LO is nearly 5 weeks. We started a basic bedtime routine in the beginning and now do a long feed on one breast, bath, massage, 'story' and then the rest of his feed. The last two nights we have done this he's goes down about 7 but doesn't sleep, he seems happy to lie in his cot though. He's demanded a feed again at 9, then slept til 2am. Feed and hopefully down til 6. We'll see!! I can live with that if that's as good as it gets for a while!

God, Finn is nearly 8 months and feeds on average 2-3 times a night! He's waking a lot more than that at the moment though as he's teething. Tonight he woke at 10.15, 11.45 and 1.15 so far and he's only just gone back off. It's gonna be a long night! x

I really don't think it has much to do with breastfeeding, although I seem to hear more about breastfed babies not sleeping through. Tilly did it from around 12 weeks through til about 17 weeks - 7pm til 6am. Then at 4 months she started waking in the night again and is still doing it once per night. I've had only a couple of good nights from her since and she's well over 7 months old now. Last night she did 7pm-5am, which I count as a sleep through, even though it's not really. She had a feed, then I put her back in her cot and she didn't get back to sleep til 6.15am, but then slept til 7.40. I don't think there's a secret - I trust she will do it in her own time. x

Really interesting hearing just how different everyone's got it.

Makes you reassured that every baby is different!

Thank you :) xxx
