My OH was working late last night and I got a call at 12:41 to say my car (no technically our car) had broken down. Apparently it started making 'funny noises' about a mile from my house then half a mile later it conked out.

Fabulous.

So here is me, waking my poor 15 year old brother up, putting jeans on under my nightie and waddling as fast as I could to where the car was broken. Now half a mile under normal circumstances is not very far at all - but i've barely been able to walk to the loo without getting sore and worn out these last few days! And it was cold and I was walking as fast as my little legs could carry me!

OH and my brother then had to push the car whilst I attempted to steer - I say attempted because i was sitting funny as I can't get my bump behind the wheel and have access to the break pedal at the same time.

Anyway, we got the car back to my road so it was parked rather than on double yellows. Then we went to bed.

Now my back hurts, my feet resemble Tilly's!!! (I really feel for you) and the garage are coming to get the car this morning. It's a shame as this week i was finally going to have some money left over... not any more.

Ok. Rant over.

Sods law. Just when finances look ok. Happened to OH car the other week...But on the way to Dover. So cost an arm and a leg to get back to Nuneaton (he had been talking about signing up with the AA a week before!)

I was there going...That could have been a cot....Or the pushchair I want.

I hope you feel better soon and that your feet go down.

Plenty of rest for you!

Awww sorry its happened. It is so crappy that whenever you have a bit of extra cash something else happens to take it away.

Hopefully it will not be too bad to fix.

Maybe a fuel problem?

Thanks guys :)
The garage men have the car now. OH said it sounded like something snapped and then he couldn't accelerate. Garage man did say something about a belt... or something. We've got to call them at 2 to see what it is and how long it'll take.

My OH is training to be a sparky and today is supposed to be his one day at college but he obviously couldn't get there. He has work tonight too until late so we'll have to figure something out for that if the car still isn't done.

I just had a long bath so I feel a bit better.

Awww, I know how you feel.

The head gasket on my car went last week and it would have cost £600 to fix, with no guarantees of what further damage had been done to the rest of the engine. We were going to change the car at the end of the year anyway, but it's just annoying that we had to change it not by choice!

Hope it all gets sorted for you.

xx

awww bless you hunni

Hmm could just be the accelarator cable. Mine snapped when out and I was able to tootle in neutral but the gas pedal did nothing. AA man fixed it in 10 minutes, pulled the cable through, cut it to a new length and I was away.

If they are talking cam belt then :? I can't see it being that serious if the engine was still working tbh.

aww love sorry this has happend its always the same weve had the same problem finaly get some money saved and some great big bill hits you in the face

Hope the garage can fix it quickly and im glad after your bath you feel a bit better hun

Oh my goodness  you poor thing having to walk all that way in the cold

Hope it's OK and not too SPENSE to fix

BUBBLES (car) IS BACK!!! WOOOOOOO

She is all fixed and running beautifully. It was the 'alt cable' ??? No idea what one of those is... lol. I let my OH talk to the garage man whilst i went to hug Bubbles.

It wasn't bad at all, only cost me £46.95 including them picking her up this morning. So nice and cheap :)

That's brilliant!!

At least you have it back quick and it hasn't dented the finances too much :cheer:  :cheer:
