Yeh the pethidine made me sick too. Multiple times. I would never have pethidine again.
Epidural was marvellous though, but the pethidine did bugger all to help the pain - just made me sick.

Ive had pethadine twice. Once after my second m/c and I was in so much pain, and the second time at 33weeks pregnant when my labour started going slow but I neded to sleep. They gave me that and I was sooo queasy. I vowed never EVER again.

I was sick constantly because I was drinking so much water and it just kept coming back up. Eventually they just gave me ice cubes to suck on to stop me dehydrating lol

i wasnt sick but after i had them i was quite gaggy so to speak

I gagged quite a bit and only threw up a tinsy wee bit! If only it was the same out the other end.... I suggest you take a "poop scooper"! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Emilia xx

I voted no.

However, my waters broke at 1am and between then and my contractions starting at 2.30am I was sick. This is going to sound crazy but it was the nicest thing ever!!! I poo'd lots too so just felt completely empty and it's such a great feeling

I felt really sick during the transition stage (which happened whilst I was in the car and trying to waddle up to the labour ward). I can remember standing, bending over a flower bed having contractions thinking I was going to puke :puke:

I was sick from the pethadine too. It also made me sleep between contractions, so for about 3 hours I felt like the only time I was awake, I was either throwing up or in agony. Never, ever again.

Why, oh why do they still insist on giving this stuff???

i was sick but i think coz of gas and air, and my poor hubby had to hold the bucket for me while i was throwing up

i decided no pethadine anyway.. but you guys have convinced me even more!!!

x

No i wasn't sick, didn't even feel sick :D ,wont be having pethidine this time though, made me feel so out of control, can't say it was great pain relief either xx

Im defo not having pethadine after reading this.

Is it common for the gas and air to make you sick or is it more so the pethadine then??

I suppose the pain of the contractions could make you feel sick/be sick too

I was sick after the pethadine as well but it was a small price to pay as the pethadine helped me nap between contractions, I would never have coped on just gas and air! x

I said that too!! then i begged for it!! haha xx

I was sick on the gas and air... i was really scared of being sick but to be honest you dont even notice it through the labour xxx

I was sick with my first suck on the gas and air thing.... but I think it was down to the nerves of the horrible staff nurse trying to put clip on baby's head to monitor heart - she was and old fashioned nasty NASTY woman!! My hubby threw her out!

But it scared me for taking the gas and air again until I had about 15min of pushing still to do and I thought sod it if I'm sick so be it - but I wasn't!

The amount of water I drank probably made me sick too!!

S. xx
