I work freelance and have just been sent a request to do a contract which starts Fri/Sat and deadline is 17th October. Only thing is I am due 14th October. If I have to stop work half way through there is nobody else to take over and I will lose money on the deal as well as not get paid. But if I do accept and complete it I will be a few hundred pounds better off.

I have to go to city centre to work and usually can get it all done in 2/3 days. No signs just now I'm gonna go into labour early but that doesn't really mean anything. I just know I'll be annoyed if I turn the money down and then go over my due date. Its office based work so I wouldn't be working too hard, just to deadline.

Aarrgh, I have to give them an answer by the morning. They don't know I'm pregnant as I am freelance and no need for them to be told. What would you do?

I would take it, especially if you think you can finish in 2-3 days - that should be well before your due date, shouldn't it? But maybe I'm just the greedy type... ;-)

Hehe I'd take it to.

When would you start working on the project?

If u r sure u can finish it before ur due date Id take it :)

I can def finish it before my due date but what if I go into labour early? If I start then go into labour 5/6 days early I would lose nearly 500gbp, sorry don't have pound signs. I'm a bit worried about that risk.

Is this your first baby? Probability baby will arrive after due date if so. Reckon I would do it if I was in your shoes but don't feel like u should. The worry might not be good for you if u r concerned xx

Arg thanks for all the advice ladies but have decided I just can't take the risk. No doubt baby will be late but if I were to start the contract and then go into labour I would lose so much money it would be crazy. Due in 8 days and it would be 6 days by time I start it.

Have decided to spend what *might* be the last weekend before baby arrives with OH instead. We're going to go cinema, out for meals and just generally relax. He was working last weekend so will be nice to spend a last weekend together. And then if baby doesn't arrive we can do it again next weekend. I think I might have been stressed about labour starting if I did go work so we'll just make do without the extra money. Gulp. :) xx
