Right so far I like:

(I like having the full name eg DS1 is Ernest but called Ernie)

BOYS
Ted (but will be called Theodore)
Percy (but will be called Percival)
Arthur (but I DON"T LIKE ART/ARTIE!!!?!?! causing me problems this one)
Digby (just came up with this one and haven't decided yet whether I like it)
Barney (Barnaby - but DH thinks everyone will think of that blasted dinosaur)

GIRLS
Mabel
Maisie
Bessie
Maggie (but don't think DH likes this one)
Hettie (Henrietta - not sure about this one though)

What do you think????

Oooh i love the name Hettie!!! A lady i work with has a niece called Hettie (but it's her actual name!!). My mum is trying to convince us if baby is a girl to call her Lottie!!!

Haha, you have the opposite view to me.

I think that if you are going to call your baby "Ernie" that Ernie should be on his certificate and not Ernest

As for the list - do you want opinion on just the name you will be calling them or do you want opinions on the name that will be on the certificate? They are completely different :eh:

Barnaby reminds me of Midsummer Murders :)

My fave boys name is Arthur and my fave girls name is Mabel.

arthur FOR DEF!
Im so sorry but i dont like any of the girl names except for maisie

If you go for Hettie you can get the Hetty and Henry nursery set from Next!

I also like Hattie (Harriette)

I LOVE your names
dont you like Teddy for a boy my cousin really wants me to have it for a boy?
out of the names you have picked I like Digby for a boy and Bessie for a girl this is also on my list.
I think Hettie is too normal

LouiseB - I'm looking for opinions on the names we'll be calling bub :)

Bessie is probably leading the pack of girls at the moment as we like Bess. Mabel has always been one of my fave names... but DH isn't so sure about Mae as a shortening (same with Maisie).

Anyways - I'm convinced that this bub is a boy so I'm more keen to work out the boys names. I am constantly changing my mind about the boys names. At the mo I am keen on Ted but DH thinks this is too normal. Is it??

I can't believe how hard this is second time round!!!!!

Well I love Bessie, it's on our longer list, or as a possible middle name as it's my one remaining grandparents first name, my nan, shortening to Bess is still lovely.

I have Hettie, further up my girls list too, love it, my mum keeps going on about a charector called Hetty Wainthrop?

I don't think Ted is too normal, I have not heard anyone else called it this generation

Arthur is lovely, and don't think ot would really get shortened, straight from the knights of camelot etc - lovely, my eldest son would really approve!
I am showing my age but digby is a dogs name in my eyes, really sorry, I grew up with a film, called digby the biggest dog in the world (disney I think)

If you call him Ted would his name be Teddy or would you call him Edward?

spuggy - would call him Theodore or Edmund (surname is Edwards so makes it a bit silly to use Edward! :D)

Mind you DH has just announced he isn't sure about Ted at all. I feel like we aren't getting anywhere with boys names!

I like Monty as well but my MIL/FIL's dog is called that - I can't really do that can I?!?

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr - this is impossible!!!!!!!!

ooohhhh my 5 year old is Monty everybody hated it my mum wouldnt even tell ppl lol but now he is such a monty and everybody says he couldnt be anything else but there are lots of dogs called it lol. My 2 year old is dolly dot so I want another old lady style name to go with hers at the min its out of kitty and florrie. Our boys name I think will be herbie I have a long list but it keeps jumping out.

what about albert and albie for short? theres an old man sits in our local pub caled albie and I love it

Lanny - I adore Albert - it is my number 1 choice but having an Ernie already I don't want my kids stuck with the whole Bert and Ernie 'joke'. I've had sooooooo many people saying "ha ha you should call the next one Bert" and Bert is a common nickname from Albert. We'd use Albert for number 3 if we had 3 boys :D definitely!!!!

sigh... the closer I'm getting to the big day... the more confused I'm feeling.

Some more names....what do you think of:

Dashiell - nn Dash?
Hugo
Rupert
Solomon - Sol/Solly
Wilbur - Wil
Leopold - Leo

Bessie
Maggie
Maisie

are all on my list too!

don't like any of your boys names though, sorry
