Omg I'm in shock! Whitehaven's such a quiet place you'd never expect something like that to happen there! Am thanking my lucky stars that my aunty and uncle are away, she's always there!

How shocking, thats the sort of news you expect from America not there! I havent seen any updates but I hope they shoot him dead.

Saved a bullet I suppose! I cant believe those poor people are dead - so tragic.

Apparently he was just a normal guy with no known reason for doing it. I was proper shocked when I seen it on the news. He killed himself after abandoning his car they reckon xx

can't belive this has happened today , i've been glued to sky news.

Just managing to watch the round up on CH4 - it actually brought me to tears to hear that cyclist describe how he helped that poor woman; then he gave a message to her family to say that he didnt think she suffered

that got me too, they interviewed him on the bbc earlier in the day before they knew how many had died and I proper welled up....can't imagine how something like that will affect the local community, if anyone's from round there I truly feel for you all x

he had such a lucky escape himself by the sounds of it because he cycled straight pass the gunman.

All the news is so so tragic at the moment. I really feel for all of the families of those involved - and of course the people themselves. The town is going to take a long time to recover.
Another Royal Marine killed today as well, 3 in just over a week. 5 in two weeks. Nothing nice on the news at all, what has the world come to? xx
