OK so I'm now 10 days overdue and getting seriously fed up, uncomfortable, and worried about being induced on Monday :(

I've had awful nightmares between my 7 trips to the toilet last night so haven't had any sleep, and feel terrible (earache, sore throat, swollen beyond belief). The nightmares were all about being in hospital (I've never been in hospital before let alone had a baby before!!) and I'm finding knowing that it's all going to happen - on Monday - for certain - really really hard. For some reason not knowing when it was going to happen was all part of the excitement for me, and I want nothing more than to go into labour naturally either today or tomorrow but I know it's just not going to happen!!

I'm terrified that an induction will lead to a section - lots of ladies on here recently seem to have struggled with a long labour only to end up having an emergency section anyway and this is what scares me more than most.

Does anyone know if there is anything I can do to prepare my body for an induction, or prepare it for labour (albeit an artificial one) that can reduce my chances of having to be whisked off to theatre?

I've a feeling today / tomorrow are going to mainly consist of complete meltdowns. Still, at least my friend is being induced on the same day - that's pretty much the only thing keeping my going at the moment!!

Sorry for the long rant

Sorry to hear you are stressed hon. No real advice as this is also my first but if poss just try to go with the flow and focus on the fact that you will be holding your little baby in your arms in a matter of days. x

I have been induced 2ce, the 1st time took 8 hours and started with a very closed posterior cervix that dilated at an average rate. I did have an epidural tho which may have slowed things down...

2nd time which should be quicker anyway was super quick, easy and enjoyable, despite my reservations. Beforehand, i drank raspberry leaf tea from 32 weeks and took evening primrose capsules from 36 weeks. Don't know if this made any difference but by body seemed to take over and baby was out in no time.

Also, I read up on hypnobirthing and tried as best I could to use what I had learnt throughout the labour which was a wonderful help x

Thanks Amyjayne, knowing it's possible to have a positive birth experience after an induction does make me feel better!! I think it's just the unknown I'm scared of, there are so many new things about to happen to me, I'm finding it all a little overwhelming, thank you x

I've a feeling our LO is patiently waiting in the queue so you need to drop so I can have my baby! Hehe! :-) On a serious note, I really hope that baby makes an appearance for you soon! Although i've heard mixed reviews about induction (more positive than negative :D) so try not to worry too much - just think, whatever you have to go through, it'll all be worth it :-) Xx

I'm hoping all the worry about induction may have been unnecessary - I've been awake since 12:30 with contractions every 10 minutes - down to 8-9 minutes now and getting stronger each time! OH is manning the panic stations (wish I hadn't woken him up to tell him now!) and I'm just trying to chill and get some rest but it's not working - each pain is strong enough to jolt me awake again. Hopefully a labour watch will be on the cards tomorrow though!

Good luck inky hope everything goes well for u Hun xxx :)

Try not to worry hunni I had a he'll of a time with induction 24hr labour with a section but my mate had a great time and only three hours later her little man was born each labour is so different and for every person too - although doesn't seem like you will need an induction with your contraction Hun x

Hey, sounds positive. Hope things are happening for you xx

fingers crossed this is it for you hun if not dont panick with the induction tho if it comes to that the more relaxed u are the better xxxxxx

Good Luck!!! You'll be fine... easy to say but try not to stress...!

Oh hun you firstly really really need to relax. Download some soothing music, take yourself off to a quiet calm place and relax. Your body is designed to do this, it knows exactly what to do. Visualise your cervix thinning and opening and really spend a few hours visualising the birth you want and the beautiful baby you're about to have. Keep things nice and dark and quiet, turn off the phone and spend today believing in yourself and what you're capable of. You're a woman with an amazing ability to bring this baby into the world calmly and in lots of love and happiness. Good luck, thinking of you xxx
