Serious weight loss? Advice needed

Guest
I know it's normal to lose a bit of weight whn you first get pregnant - but when does it become a bit more of a serious issue? How much is 'normal' limits and how much is going to far? I know you are supposed to put on between 2 and 5 pounds in the first trimester but that seems out of sight for me - I weigh a rediculous amount now. :(

Please does anyone know - I can't find anything on the internet to help me.

I was chatting to my manager yesterday about the fact that I wasn't being sick and she said that she kept nothing down at all and lost two stone in the first three months!

She gave birth to a perfectly healthy normal baby. Her appetite resumed in the second trimester and in her own words, she ate for six! :D

I think this is why a lot of clinics don't weigh you anymore, because the weight of the mother bares no relation to how the baby is doing. The baby will find a way of getting all its nutrients from you.

Hope this helps.

My weight is now at exactly the same point it was when I conceived. In the old days this may have made doctors panic, but I'm not worried about it at all. i have been eating like a horse all week, :D :D :D

I havent gained any weight and am nearly in the 2nd trimester although I am starting to show a little, role on the 6th July when I have my scan so I can tell all my work colleagues otherwise they'll think I'm a right porker! Anyway I read that as long as you eat and drink, even if you are sick a little later the baby still gets what it needs and make sure you take your folic acid, the ones I take are boots mum to be range and there also a multi vitamin as well as folic acid and I make sure I take them after I've been sick so I know there will be time for them to get into my system. Dont worry about losing a bit of weight, but if you do get really concerned speak to your midwife she should be able to put your mind at rest. And dont forget everyone is different some people gain a stone or two by full term and others ( a friends sister) gained 6 stone and the baby was average weight!

I've lost almost a stone which is 10% of my body weight. I was 9st4 = 130 lbs pre-pregnancy, and now I am 8st5, which is 13lb lost. Exactly 10% of my original body weight.

Maybe I'm fussing over nothing. but I can't help feeling I'm depriving my baby of things it needs. Gonna start taking more nutrients via tablets coz any food I eat makes me throw up again. God bring on trimester 2!
