September 2017 Mummas Thread!

Hi all

As this is our first, I was wondering if anyone can recommend a great overall baby book. I feel I know a fair bit but my husband feels clueless and it may help for us to go through together. Basically looking for a step by step guide. Ideally with the book dived by age milestones.

Also any hypnobirthing birth book recommendations?

Anyone else wasting their evenings watching their tummies for little kicks? X

I have both of these and really enjoy them --

hypnobirthing: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/0091954592/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

pregnancy: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mayo-Clinic-Guide-Healthy-Pregnancy/dp/1561487171

I haven't bombarded myself with too many books, and I look things up online as I go, comparing sources. When it comes to labour, I feel like I'm completely in the dark, but the hypnobirthing book has taught me that it's a natural thing we shouldn't be afraid of if nothing else.

I would like to find a good first year book - I'll probably go with Mayo Clinic again tbh

My hubby really liked the commando dad book. It was very manly apparently

I had a fab hypnobirthing book with my first, it came with a CD that I never listened to but reading the book got me over my fear and made me feel less nervous about the birth - although I didn't adopt all of the techniques during labour I did feel like it was quite a euphoric experience and no where near as bad as I thought it would be. It had little sections and questions so you could jot down your thoughts. Think it was this one but not 100% sure https://www.amazon.co.uk/Effective-...qid=1495395847&sr=8-17&keywords=hypnobirthing

Ahh I like a good book or two. I have purchased some pregnancy ones and ones for when baby is actually here but I haven't started those ones yet. ) and one is a Green Parenting one. Like the sound of the hypnobirthing ones.

Love your bumpy pic Elf's Mummy, not sure how I missed replies on this thread!

How is everyone getting on, we're all coming up on or have passed v day which is super exciting!! Looking forward to being 27 weeks and moving into tri 3 officially as then there's only 12 weeks left to go. I think this is the first time I've been excited for baby to get here, I love the newborn squishy phase where they're just so tiny and cuddly :cloud9:

How are you all getting on with this warm weather?

I'm 26 weeks today and it feels like it's flying past! (although not fast enough because I can't wait for my back pain to be relieved and to cuddle the little man!)

I'm coping well with the heat at the moment purely because I'm off work and hugging the fan 24/7 and drinking iced water. Finding I'm getting more and more exhausted though.

How're you getting on Kumber?

Desperate to reach V day... feel like this pregnancy is going super slow and feeling much more anxious this time round than I was last time!

I'm getting on well thanks FFO. BP is staying down so hoping it will stay down right up until I pop, along with swelling. Trying to take things easy as I keep pushing myself and losing huge globs of plug which is not sensible. Thank goodness it regenerates! Struggling with the heat, it's just too hot. Got fans going all over the show.

V day is 24 weeks :) Kinkers how far are you now?

When does the third tri start? Is it 27 or 28 weeks?

Also, here's my bump Elfs! Getting big too!
