We will master this!!

I've been lazy recently, between teething, colds etc, and her fighting sleep, it was easier to rock her to sleep.

But she's gone backwards - she used to at least settle some of the time now it's a nightmare.

Have just put her in her crib with the mobile finally up. Can here her muttering, but she's not crying. Dunno what she'll do when the mobile stops though.

Aww good luck hun, hopefully she will settle better in a few days x

She'll get there. I found Tyler did it best with nothing to distract him

well, first try was a bit of disaster - she ended up getting herself so wound up that i had to lift her out, but it was just a quick cuddle. Fingers crossed it will get easier.

We too need to master this- Harry is becoming a bit of a pain with sleeping.

I keep thinking we'll start next week but something always comes up

Well, latest is she went down pretty much herself at just after 5, but woke up really quickly and had herself in a right state so had to cuddle her down, but will keep trying!

Ladies who have this sorted - are you're LOs wide awake when you put them down??? Or do u have a wee cuddle to settle them first then down??

Naps were never great for us but bed time we put her down after her bath and bottle no matter what so some days she woud be haf asleep some days wide awake but we just tried to keep it the exact same every day and it worked great took a few days but then she was grand, at most she would moan for 10 minutes but not crying iykwim

Since self settling take 2 this week ie the no dummy route it took 3 nights then last night she went off her self just like before so give it a few days x

I put Ralph down some days wide awake... Don't need to rock or cuddle him. He will stir alot tho but will be asleep in 10 min or so xx

We've just started this with gusto today (have tried a couple of times in the past but chickened out after just one go!)

We need to get it mastered as at the mo we rock her to sleep in pram in the day (want her to sleep in her cotbed in her own room so it's more comfy and she'll be familiar with it when we eventually move her in there at night) and also I feed her to sleep at night (this won't be an option soon as I'll be weaning her off of me).

Got hubby to do it so LO didn't think 'why can't I have the boob?'. We set a naptime routine (story and a song) and he put her down. He went in every two minutes to pat her tummy and shhhh her (if she was just moaning) and he sang her the song again if she was more wound up. This went on for half an hour but she settled! For the first time EVER without a feed/rocking!

We're gonna try to do the same everyday so she gets to grips with it. Hope it goes as well tomorrow!

We put her down tired but awake.
