G has been doing this for about a week now. Absolutely no chance of her self settling - not even at night which she has always done.

But even when I try rocking her to sleep (which I'm not keen to continue) she's arching her back and kicking her legs about for a good while before she gives it up - even once she's stopped the wriggling it takes a while to get her to sleep.

I put her down too quickly she flings herself round (she sleeps on her side) and screams bloody murder till I pick her up.

She's loaded with the cold at the moment, plus teething.

Please tell me it's just a phase.

4 month sleep regression??! I have heard of this horrible thing but hope it bypasses my lo when the time comes!

Nothing stays the same with these babies does it? Just when you think you have something nailed they throw a spanner in the works.

I hope it's just an off few days for you xxx

Oh hun- I can sympathise- we went thru this around about the same time! I think its related to progress in their development or something? With Ethan it was like he didnt want to sleep coz he thought he'd miss something- he just wanted to be awake ALL the time but physically couldnt!!.........It did pass, but we did some work on self settling around that time too. It was a v tough time and a real battle to get him to sleep (sometimes 1hr+ and then he only ever slept for 45mins) I resorted to lots of walks with him the pram coz at least then I didnt have to get kicked and try to keep hold of a heavy wriggly baby for a long time!......The teething and cold definately wont help but it could be the start of the sleep regression thing too? Not sure but just a suggestion!.....Once we got past this Ethan was much better for a fair while- now we r having a similar time coz he seems to be obsessed with trying to crawl and just wont switch off!!! But I will say it isnt as bad as he was around the 4 month mark.....................So really I could have just said yeh- its prob just a phase! lol! xx

I did wonder if it could be the 4month regression. I guess on the bright side she's not actually waking any more during the night.

I'm just a bit concerned about making a rod for my own back with the cuddling. But as I'm ill too, I just don't have the energy to persevere with her just now.

I wouldnt worry hun- u just do what u can to get thru it! Some sleep for LO is better than none at all! xxx

Henry has been like that for a week now. Tonight I tried everything & it still took 2 1/2 hours. Tried feeding him to sleep, cuddling, rocking, singing. U name it I tried it. He was screaming, arching his back, tears rolling down his face :( just wouldn't drop off. I was starting to get really frustrated and handed him to dh so I could calm myself down. Hate feeling like that but he was doin my head in.

Feels so much better to know I'm not the only one. I tried to get DH to rock her off tonight, but she just went mental!!!

Ah Harlow is going through this too! I've found she is really unsettled at nighttime and has me up every single hour without fail just to pop her dummy back in... It's drivin me insane! What's annoyed me more is my bestfriend text me this morning to tell me her little one who is 6 days older than Harlow slept from 7:30pm until 7:30am! Bahhhhhh humbug!!! X

Must be the 4 month sleep regression. K has been hard to settle at night for a couple weeks and then last night she was up six times! Praying it doesn't last long! It really does seem like she doesn't want to miss anything.

Hope you feel better by the way!

Alyssa has been doing this for 2 weeks now. i cant put her in her cot until she is fast asleep or she wakes n screams, shes also waking in the night again. she has to be rocked or fed to sleep and will not accept oh doing the rocking. daytime naps are fine and anything from 30 mins to 2 hrs but if she has a long nap shes disorientated and cries after it when waking
