I am going on Saturday to start ball rolling for testing. What is the nornal routine in Scotland? I have read its day 3 and 21 bloods and scan of ovaries? What is day 3 bloods for ? What do they do if bloods normal and scan normal?

Also wanted to add....does anyone get mega thirsty towards ovulation or bbs get really achey?

My day 3 they tested LH, FSH and prolactin, day 21 bloods are to check progesterone levels to see if you ovulate. Your OH will be asked to do a sperm test before your Dr will send you to a consultant. Not sure if Scotland has the same protocol but shouldn't be far off I wouldn't think. How long have you been ttc ?. x

My boobs kill before ovulation, as have long cycle at the start off bc thought was an early pregnancy sign but as got AF and happens every month know is ovulation.

I'm not sure about the test but I think if you've only been trying 6 months then might not to do any tests but rather give advice about doing it every 2-3 days etc.

I know it's really frustrating but it's normal for it to take up to a year, I'm just heading into cycle 6 so have to keep reminding myself of this.

Hope you get a nice go as I hear can be a bit hit or miss as to how helpful they are x

I went this morning and she booked me in for day 21 bloods but will be day 23 as day 21 is a sunday and Monday is a bank holiday so not sure how accurate day 23 will be ? I am a Nurse so might take them myself and hand them in. I told a fib amd said been trying 1 year and she said they could so some tests now and then would be 18 months of trying before they would refer to fertility clinic. They had no sperm sample pots so they ordered them and going to call hubbie when in to collect. I just want to know things are what they should be. I wanted to get a scan of ovaries booked in or refered vut she didn't mention that. I guess I will see what these tests show then take it from there but feel a bit better that I have started the ball rolling. The only embarresing part was at the end she took me out to front desk and asked the receptionists for sperm specimen pots in front of loads of folk ...erm...just as well I have thick skin!

Only 5 months ttc... but have bad anxiety around worrying I can't have a baby and felt this would help relax me a bit. I told a white lie and said been ttc for 12 months. They are going to check OH sperm and do my day 21 bloods and take it from there but I may take my own bloods( I am a nurse) as day 21 is a wknd and it will be day 23. She said it prob be another 6 months before the fertility clinic would take a referal but I just want to get my ovaries scanned for cysts etc and hopefully have it confirmed there no issues. FX

I think it varies depending on area when you get offered a scan. My GP ordered one for me prior to referral as it was required before she could refer me to the fertility clinic. I'm fairly certain a friend of mine who lives in a different county didn't get a scan until after she was referred and seen by the consultant.
