right im going to be waiting for about an hour to see her
Going to have a lovely blood test done to make sure my iron levels are high enough for a home birth so fingers crossed they should be ok as my last levels were 11.5 which apprently are really good.
Well just got back all is still going ahead ! and my little madame is 3/5 ths engaged !!! wahooo!!! shes going to ring me next week to let me know if my levels are still ok and then shes coming out to see me again to see if im ok
She said when I get to 36 weeks I can start my raspberry leaf tea
Wow Tasha it sounds like your midwife is really good! We are at approx the same stage and I haven't been told anything about tea or being engaged or anything! I am next due to see my midwife on 20th November... I did discuss home birthing with her but she said there were not enough staff in the area and she strongly advised against it ........
Good luck for your levels and I hope things go well fro you!
Aww lyndsey if what shes says is true and there arnt enough midwifes then maybe shes right to worried about the idea, I know its an expensive option but have you looked into getting a doula or an independant midwife? you are sure to get the support for a homebirth ( if all is well of course), and they are trained to help you and be with your throughout the rest of your pregnancy and after.
As for the lovely midwife its took long enough for them all to start being like this with me, I think it helps that I have done a lot of research on what I can take/do for labour and ive looked into everything about homebirths, I have passed the test so to speak
I wouldnt give up hun on the homebirth and if it still isnt a possiblity then have you got any birthing centres in your area they are supposed to be like home from home
Yeah have been to visit a midwife lead birthing centre ( it is a ward in the main maternty unti at our local hospital) and it does seem to be really nice. I explained my concerns to them... not wanting to be "interfered with" and wanting to be left alone and they said that was how they prefered it as well!
My plan now is to stay at home as long as possible and then go in when necessary and have a water birth........ and if there is a number 2 I will have it at home!
When I asked how long you had to stay in for after giving birth - they told me the minimum time was 2-3 hours.... so if you plan it right you could be at home with baby before you know it! I have got my head around this now.... was gutted at first but I always say things happen for a reason!
Aww that sounds like a great alternative, at least you still have the support there which not a lot of women get, great midwifes are few and far between, and im sure there are some lovley ones and the centre.
