So, I was getting a tiny bit of "moisture" from my section scar last week, and it was looking a bit red so I went to the doctors and he gave me antibiotics which I started taking on Friday.

When I looked at my scar Weds it seems to he getting worse, it's more red and angry looking and there's definitely pus now coming from one bit, as well as a funny smell. I've been doing the recommended, taking antibiotics and letting the wound get air after every bath/shower.

Does anyone have any other suggestions please? :)

Ive heard of having a bath with a little salt in the water but never done it, if you started taking antibiotics friday last week and now thats a week gone and it looks worse id pop back to docs incase they need to change antibiotics. Maybee your broad spectrum one is just not cutting it. I believe dotty womans midwife suggested sticking a panty liner in pants horizontally along scar line ( stuck on pants tho) to keep it dry / soak up anything

Hope you get it sorted soon x

Hope it starts to clear up soon Carlee. It does take a few days for antibiotics to kick in so I'd carry on doing what you're doing. How many days worth of antibiotics did they give you? If you're worried over the weekend I'd call the out of hours doctor or NHS direct (although the latter may be of limited help). I'd definitely ring the doctor on Monday if no improvement. I've had some weeping from my scar too but fortunately at the moment it's just clear. I'm keeping an eye on it though as it is sore. xxx

Don't wait to get it checked, have it checked now. Mine got infected and the normal antibiotics did not work as it turned out to be a staph infection and i ended up in ICU with a 12 inch open wound for 6 months. I'm not trying to scare you as it may just need stronger meds but please do get it checked straight away x

I went to the walk in centre on Thursday and they gave me different antibiotics and have sent a swab off for me to see what the crack is.
It's still getting more painful, but hopefully by Monday I should know what's going on :)

Oh right lol! Ouch, not nice. Ive seen some of the suction dressing type things before bet that was no fun with a newborn! X

Just keep going back It was the 5th lot of antibiotics and the antibiotic cream that finally healed mine. The infection was inside and caused my scar to pop open luckily since the cream I'm guessing it's stopped and started healing I also started putting salt in my bath and think that helped too xxx

I had a bit of an infection in mine with my first baby and the midwife told me to try and keep it dry when not bathing etc.

Because it's tucked under your tummy it's exposed to sweat and bacteria etc. she told me to put a maternity pad over in/in between my tummy and scar if that makes sense or toilet paper. I know it sound attractive but it did help x
