India is 18 days old. Off the last 3 or 4 days she has cried everytime I've tried to put her in her Moses basket or bouncer. She just wants to be held all the time. She even falls asleep in my arms and then screams as soon as I put her down. I can't get anythin done around the house and it's starting to drive me crazy!! Any tips anyone?!? Xx

Charley was the same when he was a newborn. In the end I made sure he was fed, clean, safe and just left him for 5mins to cry. 5mins doesn't hurt just to get afew things done.
He did soon grow out of it and it got easier to do things.
I know some people on here use slings for their babies so they can still do things x.

Thank you! Wasn't sure if I was doing the right thing by keep picking her up or if that was making it worse! I'll try giving her 5 mins to see if she settles herself! Ooh it's hard when they're crying and you don't know why isn't it!! X

Oh, mines exactly the same - made worse by spending a weekend with my family, where she was held and fussed over constantly, even her naps were taken in peoples arms!
I do just try and leave her for a bit, but its annoying in the middle of the night, when I have to have her in my arms to get her to sleep, then try and place her in her moses without waking her up, lol!

Oh, I LOVE the name India btw - gorgeous!
x

I love her name too, its gorgeous! Me aswell put Noa down for 5 min now n again n he soon grew out of it. He never got used to fall asleep on me I made sure he felt safe by sitting with him stroking him to he calmed down.
I'm sure this helped me a lot ad now he very rarely cries n r happy to play on his own n falls asleep without problem. First 3 weeks was a nightmare tho xx

Ella was like that, i just used to put her in the sling to get things done... Or run around doing stuff while she napped!

She still struugles to drop off for naps without being held/rocked but nightime she soothes herself no worries.

For me personally, i couldn't leave her to cry, it would stress me out too much and in my eyes you can't spoil a little baby. As long as i'm happy to hold/rock her to sleep there's no problem. If i get fed up of it, i'll have to tackle it then!

Thanks ladies for the advice, and thank you also for the nice words about her name! We weren't sure how people would respond to it when we first chose it, but so far everyone has seemed to like it xxx

White noise is my saviour. Jasmine loves it so we pop it on in the computer room wile I get some stuff done. She likes it even if shes awake - she seems to find it calming .

here's the link and there is a breast pump sounds on there too which she likes too. I wouldn't get anything done at all without this.

I used to stick the Hoover on sometimes, that would settle her and meant I could Hoover! She's scared of it now tho! It's so hard leaving them to cry but sometimes you have to for 5 mins just to get some things done. She'll improve when she gets older though x

Hi Everyone,

The midwife came to see me today and I was telling her that Jessica will behave so well during the day after a bottle but at night time she will cry if you try and put her in her moses basket. Midwife told me to get a hot water bottle and put it in the basket when she is feeding. Take it out just before you finish and then put the baby in. The heat tricks them into thinking they are being held. She also advised putting a t shirt that I have been wearning in as well so she can smell me. However, if you are breastfeeding you should put your partners t shirt in as she will want to be fed if she can smell her mother of the t shirt. It's worth a try!

My son was the same. have u tried using a muslin that smells of you then she will feel like your near. Also mad as it seems whenever im doing the hoovering or drying my hair he goes to sleep instantly lol x

i had this putting my lo down in moses basket and he had reflux so he wud only settle on me upright hope u get sorted

OMG this was Oz! I would even put the hoover on so I could do the rest of the cleaning if he was awake and he'd just chill, but after 2nd lot of jabs he screamed and screamed the day after so I thought he had a headache... but no it happened again and again. Now though he seems ok with it again, but he won't chill like he used to but I can get the hoovering done now lol Nothing seems to soothe him now, he's so demanding... like his mum lol Even when he's quite happy talking to his toys he sounds like he's constantly complaining

amelia does this she chatters away and i have to look at her to see if she is upset or just chatting because now she has found her voice she just shouts all the time lol x

They're so funny aren't they? Right little characters. Oz is into everything at the moment, changing him is now a battle as he talks to everything on the changing table while systematically chucking it all on the floor lol

I dont know if this is still the correct thing to do but with my kiddies i used to put there blanket in a triangle and wrap them in it so they were all snug. It made them think i was still holding them and they were very content. Washing machine noise always worked to think its like tummy sounds or something lol It does babies good to have a little cry so dont feel guilty you will get to know the different cries soon xxxxxxx
