Mull! The islands are lovely but I'm always grateful to get to the city every now and again for decent shopping and normality!! I wouldn't live anywhere else though :)

Harris is Scottish for a boy.....or Harrison n shorten to Harris x

Got to say I love Heather I got called Hettie or Hev I have a older sister called Fiona and she was known as Fi

Thanks for the suggestions ladies, plenty of lovely Scottish names after all! xx

kinkers, the islands are lovely, but I think S. Uist is just too far- 3hrs to Oban and then a 5hr ferry! My brother loves it tho! xx

Heather I hadn't thought of Hettie! Normally I wouldn't like an old person sounding name or nickname but I really like that! xx

What about Angus shortend to Gus?

My DH is called Fraser and as a family we hate "Fraz" because the "Z" is americanised - alot of our English relatives spell it with a "Z" which we can never understand. "Fraz" reminds us of "Chaz", both names which we associate with top English boarding schools and put an accent on when we immitate it. Lol that's not very helpful but I thought I'd share from the POV of my DH!

I think Scottish boys names are easier than girls names though x

My partner is Scottish. We didn't specifically go out to choose a Scottish name, but we both agreed if we have a boy, he will be called Alexander. Possibly with Findlay for a middle name.

I LOVE the name Cameron, but here in Northern Ireland where I come from, Cameron is a very popular baby name at the minute, and I'd want to call him something different.

What about Lachlan? Fionn is also a nice name.

Not so sure about girls names though. We had considered Isla but it doesn't go with the surname (that's a big problem for us, pretty much all girls names we like don't go with the surname!)

My little boy is Ross and he has a Scottish surname. The other options for him were kyle or Lewis but he just looked like a ross :) we named our daughter we lost Oirrinn which is a river in the northern highlands. I love just looking on the map and trying all the place names.

I like Kyle but really want to be able to shorten the name as feel I missed out on that as a kid! I like the idea of naming after a place etc, hadn't thought of rivers- will have a look at a map  xx

Cameron isn't too common here, it has been my top boys name since I was young so I'm glad! Would hate to have it spoiled!

A friend/aquantance has called her boy Lachlan, at first I wasn't too keen on it but now it's growing on me. Nickname would be lack tho... xx

Not keen on Angus, sorry! I'm still not keen on oldie names atm!
We'd spell it Fraser too, if I wrote Frazer (can't see here without losing this reply!) it was a mistake and probably due to me thinking 'how would we spell his nickname, Fras or Fraz'! Thanks for the POV on that- something to think about!! xx
