Hiya ladies, just thought I would ld try and quickly write my labour thread while my little man is having a snooze!

Scott was born at 37+6 by elective c section and as expected it went beautifully! We arrived at the hospital at 7:30am and was told that we were first on the list so expect to walk down to theatre at about 9am. At 9:10 a midwife came and we all strolled across to theatre and my fella was sent to change his clothes into some very fetching blue overalls while they administered the spinal. As I walked in the room was full of about 12ish people and I was then told to remove my knickers, very embarrassing lol! But a kind midwife hid my blushes as I ungraciously struggled to bend and quickly whip them off lol

Once the spinal was in I was immediately laid back and my fella was led in to sit by me while they put a curtain up above my belly so neither of us could see the op.

It seemed to be taking quite a while and I could feel lots of movement, pushing and pulling but then the surgeon popped her head around the curtain and explained that it was taking longer than normal as my uterus, bladder and abdomen were badly scared from my previous sections and they had to go very slowly. After about another 5 minutes though I heard the telltale gurgle as my waters were broken and within a minute we heard our little dude let out his first amazing cry. He was then quickly checked, weighed and then handed to Daddy while I was being stitched up. He was born at exactly 9:49am and weighed 6lb 9oz. Amazingly, a few months ago me and my fella were discussing how heavy we thought he would be and Paul guessed spot on! I put a note in my phone at the time and was shocked when I realised he guessed his exact weight.

About 15 minutes later the surgeon popped her head around the curtain and told me in no uncertain terms that she strongly recommends that I don't get pregnant again. Apparently my stomach and all surrounding organs are very badly scared and she personally would not be prepared to operate on on me again as it was far too risky. I appreciated her honesty though and it just confirmed what I already knew, that this little man would indeed be my last.

Finally, after what seemed like ages, I got led into recovery and managed to get my first cuddle of Scott. I was blown away immediately by the rush of love I had for him, I just fell immediately head over heels for this beautiful little creature that I had placed in my arms. It just doesn't change, whether it's your first or your fourth, the moment you meet them is one of the most special moments you will have in your entire life! I couldn't stop gazing at him and there could have been 300 people in the room and I wouldn't have noticed lol. I did get the shakes again ( I suffered the same after previous sections) and just trembled uncontrollably for about half an hour but apparently it's just a side effect of the spinal.

Once I was taken back to the ward I ate a ham sandwich and drank a large costa cappuccino lol. I honestly just felt fine and if it hadn't been for my numb legs would have felt as normal as ever. By 7 o'clock I had my catheter and drip removed, had walked down the corridor and showered, had eaten dinner and felt amazing. I'm actually chuffed I was allowed home the next day. By 1pm Saturday we were discharged lol.

I couldn't really have asked for a better experience and everyone at the hospital were just lovely.

Once home the only problem I had was swelling to my arms and legs which was quite scary, especially as it started shortly after my fella had given me the clexane jab and I thought it was a side effect of it. I rang the hospital and they told me it was a common side effect of a c section, more so after you haven't rested enough and spent to much time on your feet. Easier said than done when you have to walk from the ward to the car after only 1 day and is a bloody never ending corridor!

Since being at home I have barely slept a wink, I just can't bare to waste a second of any day not spending time with Scott. These early days go so quickly and I don't want to miss a single thing! I am completely and totally in love with every ounce of my adorable baby boy and I want to announce his arrival from the rooftops lol.

Congratulations :) glad it went so well, he's gorgeous! x

Hope the bf consultant helps xx

Thanks everyone!

I just noticed I added a hell of a lot of photos lmao! Sorry! I probably have about 500+photos already haha, poor things gonna get sick of me
He was just weighed and has lost only a tiny bit of weight so I am bloody chuffed! I'm managing to express enough milk to keep him at a healthy weight. I'm gonna get some Nipple shields today, midwife recommended, because she thinks he won't latch because my boobs are so full my nipples have flattened due to pressure. Oh well, we'll see, I'm up for trying anything xxx

Tapatalking so can't see sigs or click thanks!

Awww tambo, he is absolutely lush, i wouldnt want to be parted from him for a second either. I am so glad your section went well, thanks for writing about it, you have made me feel much more confident about mine on Friday.
Xxxxxxx

Oh tambo congratulations both, scott is just lovely, i love his name, unusual nowadays.

It sounded perfect , interesting about your insides tho, think mine will be the same there, and those cokd shakes are annoying arnt they, ive heard some hosp put you on a warm bed for that , which sounds brill. Greatyou got out so quick but yes easy to over do it then, look after yourself

Did you knit his stripy blue and white cardi? I want one its yummy, it might be your gorg baby in it tho im after, hes yum

What made them do it before 38 weeks? I thought they always dud 39 plus now, my last was 39 plus 1

Enjoy every moment, it does go too fast.

My OH's Mom knitted his stripey blue cardigan :) she is an amazing knitter so hopefully that's the first of many lol.

My consultant said it was routine to do sections at 38 weeks but because of the weekend/bank holiday she agreed to do it at 37+6 for my convenience lol. I had steroid injections anyway so was prepared for a slightly prem baby.

I actually had my first look at my scar yesterday and Omg it looks horrendous, just a massive purple/green/black bruise. I shouldn't really be surprised because there was a hell of a lot of tugging going on down there. I'm not upset though that I can't have anymore, I'm just grateful for the 4 I have, especially with Scott being a bonus baby lol, I was never meant to have a fourth!

I really do love his name! It just came to me a few weeks ago in bed and I knew instantly that's what his name would be. It actually really suits him as well :) x

Congratulations Tambo!! He's such a sweety!! Glad the section went ok. Am super jealous you've got your baby already! Bet mine will be late lol!
Good luck with the breast feeding. Hope he manages to get the hang of it soon xx

Thanks Ladies!

I have been lent an electric breast pump from my local breastfeeding coordinator, it's a hospital grade one and we got it completely for free because we are currently on benefits so that should speed expressing up. I also purchased some Nipple shields and they have helped massively, I can't recommend them enough! X
