So I'm suffering really bad with sciatica and I really wanna take ibuprofen to ease it can I ? Cuz I just wanna cry now I have it both sides and right across my pelvis I'm so uncomfortable ! :(

I know that ibuprofen is a no no in pregnancy due to the risk of mc. I'm sorry you are suffering, why don't you see your gp to see if there is something else you can have x

Think I may have too may have to swop job roles at work too because I'm constantly on my feet walking and the more I walked the worse it got but I wanna last at least till after my wedding before I change jobs which is end of august !

No to ibuprofen, but you can take paracetamol, and apparently co-codamol (so my OB told me last week), you would definitely need to see your GP about that though as I think it can depend on what stage you are!

Might be worth seeing gp I got prescribed ibuprofen gel which helped a bit x

It's a big no no hun :(
Sciatca tablets are a big no no. We just have to suffer since paracetomal dosen't touch it :(

If it's terrible I'm pretty sure you can have amitriptyline prescribed from tri 2, at least that's what my consultant indicated (although she did say we would cross that bridge at a later date if I suffered) and of course physiotherapy. I have 2 slipped discs lower down and am quite nervous of my back in this pregnancy.

Thanks guys will book into see my gp or next week cuz although it's better it's still there :( lol

amitriptyline is an antidepressant and beta blocker so no for that.

Also it's very risky if you suffer from depression - it made me suicidle when I had it a few years ago. *shudder*

Did your sciatica get worse since you've been pregnant? If so, when?
I'm asking because I have it and it seems to have got worse in the last week or so. I wasn't sure if it was anything to do with my pregnancy though seeing as I haven't put on any weight or anything :-s

It will do as everything get's pushed around and more pressure put on things including your nerves ;)

The doses for pain are far lower 10-20mg than that of using it as an antidepressant, obviously everyone is different with different drugs but I have used amitryptilene with amazing results for sciatic pain and back pain.

I've seen it used for pain.. x

How weird :)
I was on 100mg before bed. Didn't even touch my pain :(

Then again my sciatica is coursed by my athritus crushing the nerve.
