Hi everyone!

Been back from the scan a while. It was amazing seeing the baby but we've been told the neck fluid measurement is thicker than it should be (3.5mm our baby's 4.5mm) therefore it could have Downs syndrome. (sorry for the vagueness I'm just exhausted!!)
We spent an hour or so talking to a specialist who has now booked us in for further tests at another hospital.
I'm absolutely gutted as we could now miscarry the baby or if it has downs we'll have to make a choice whether to keep it or terminate it (really not sure if I can do that!!!)

Sorry to put a dampener on this amazing week full of scans and I really hope NO ONE else on here has to go through this!
I have added the gorgeous pics of what looks to be our happy waving and kicking baby!

oh my goodness honey, please dont think the worst just yet......have they done the combo test for downs and taken blood from you too as that changes the odds. as we know the tests are only predicting what the chance is and only diagnostic tests tell you the real story. My friends friend was given 1 in 2 chance of her baby being Downs from the scan and blood measurements and her baby did not turn out to be downs. Keeping EVERYTHING crossed for you and the waiting to find out is awful you will get through it and will make the right decision whatever you choose (if you get to that stage).....just rest easy and keep positive. xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hi hon, just wangted to add not to worry to much yet...for a start u can see a nasal bone really clearly and that is a good sign when looking at combination factors. I hope everything is ok and thinking of u x x x

Fingers crossed everything turns out to be okay for you. I know its much easier said than done but try not to stress about it too much until you know more. When have they said you will get the results back?

Scan pics look great, really clear!!

xxx

O Hun so sorry you have had a bad time. As mentioned above there's a lot more to be checked before you need to start making any decisions. I know that doesn't help you right now but we are routing for u and bubs. Let us know how u get on.

Hey Hun,

I have just replied to your message but just wanted to say how lovely and clear your scan pics are! I have my fingers crossed for you. xx

Your child is still your child, no matter what.
My auntie just found out her LO is autistic, she doesn't love him less.

I'm sorry to hear of this bad news but don't think the worst just yet.
Good luck for the outcome of the tests xxx

oh hunny, i'm so sorry. don't apologise for anything. this pregnancy business is a rollercoaster and you must have just had the shock of your life. i'm so sorry you have got bad news, i'm going to keep everything crossed for you.

if it does turn about to be Downs, the decision is yours and OH's and no one would ever judge you, its completely up to you two. take care of yourself hunny and let us know how you get on, sending lots and lots of hugs :hugs: xxx

Lovely pictures Hun, hope everything turns out ok xx

Totally echo what Positivity said hun. Sorry you have had a bit of a shock and I hope your ok. Fingers crossed everything turns out ok.
x

 Sorry the scans had a dampner put on them, as they really are wonderful photos of your LO. Hope everything turns out ok and whatever happens everyone here will support your choice either way x

Completely agree with Positivity! Dont be disheartened just yet hun, see what apens.
Ur pix are beautiful tho xxxxxx

wait til you have all the information, then you'll know if there is a decision to be made. remember that Downs is a real spectrum disorder, and will be even more life changing that a little one without Downs, but just as rewarding. There is no wrong decision when there is one to make, just the one that is right for you and your OH, big hugs xxxxx

Agree with pos and dysco. I'm so sorry, it must have been a big shock.

We're all here if you want to chat hun. Fx all will be fine.

Xxxx

Sorry to hear you've had this worrying news  whatever happens u know we are all here to support u xx

Thanks everyone! I'm feeling slightly more positive as OH and I have decided to think the best for now. We've both taken today and tomorrow off work to give us time to come to terms with everything.
We've also decided to take the test (which is booked for 10am Monday) I am dreading it but at least we'll be sure as to what's going on. We'll get some results next thurs then we'll have to wait a couple of weeks for the full ones.
I'm sort of feeling sort of angry? Maybe? That this has happened to us when we've looked after the baby and done everything we can for it when some people Take drugs when pregnant or drink every night and have healthy kids. I know that sounds really judgemental and horrible but I'm a bit all over the place.

pinky...your feelings seem perfectly normal to me and i would feel the same. so glad you are being positive and getting further info next week. you just rest easy and enjoy looking at your LO, whom is beautiful......take it easy and keep us posted. everything crossed for you. xxxxx

Really sorry about you having such a scare, hopefully it is just that and if not you've got everyone's support whatever you decide

What K&B says sounds really positive so fingers crossed :)

I think your feelings are totally understandable.
